PROCEEDINGS OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF THE PARISH OF CONCORDIA, STATE OF LOUISIANA, TAKEN AT A REGULAR MEETING HELD ON THURSDAY, AUGUST 9, 2007

 

The School Board of the Parish of Concordia, State of Louisiana, met in Regular Session at the Concordia Parish School Board office in Vidalia, Louisiana, on Thursday,  August 9, 2007, at six  (6:00) o’clock P.M.  The meeting was called to order by Mr. Gary Parnham, who after prayer and the Pledge, declared that the Board was ready for the transaction of business.

 

Members present were Ms. Darlene Baker, Mr. Fred T. Butcher, Ms. Mary Campbell, Mr. Daryle Price, Ms. Martha Rabb, Mr. Ricky Raven, Mr. Raymond Riley, Sr., Ms. Deanie Roberts, and Mr. Gary Parnham, Sr.

 

Mr. Fred T. Butcher arrived at 6:05 P.M.

 

Each committee chairperson provided a report to the Board.

 

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Mr. Raven and carried unanimously to approve the minutes of July 12, 2007.

 

It was moved by Mr. Riley, seconded by Mr. Butcher and carried unanimously to approve invoices in the amount of $4,489,582.

 

It was moved by Ms. Rabb, seconded by Mr. Raven and carried to add the following items to the agenda:

 

D.        Declare an Emergency to Address the Repairs at the Concordia Education Center

            E.         Accept Bids for Exterminating Service for School Food Service

 

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Mr. Raven and carried unanimously to adopt the following resolutions to adopt the Millage rates for tax year 2007:

 

RESOLUTION

 

BE IT RESOLVED, that the following millage(s) is hereby levied on the 2007 tax roll, on all property subject to taxation by the Concordia Parish School Board.

 

MILLAGE

 

1) Constitutional                                              02.97 Mills

2) Additional support for maintaining

    and operating of parish schools                 24.14 Mills

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the proper administrative officials of the Parish of Concordia, State of Louisiana, be and they are hereby empowered, authorized, and directed to spread said taxes, as hereinabove set forth, upon the assessment roll of said Parish for the year 2007, and to make the collection of the taxes imposed for and on behalf of the taxing authority, according to law, and that the taxes herein levied shall become a permanent lien and privilege on all property subject to taxation as herein set forth, and collection thereof shall be enforceable in the manner provided by law.

 

The foregoing resolution was read in full, the roll was called on the adoption thereof, and the resolution was adopted by the following votes:

RESOLUTION

 

BE IT RESOLVED, that the following millage(s) is hereby levied on the 2007 tax roll, on all property subject to taxation by the Concordia Parish School Board.

Acquiring and construction of additional classrooms and for the providing of additional support for public education 12.55 Mills

It was moved by Mr. Raven, seconded by Ms. Baker and carried unanimously to adopt the 2007-08 Pupil Progression Plan.

 

It was moved by Mr. Raven, seconded by Ms. Rabb and carried unanimously to approve the 2007-08 Consolidated Application.

 

It was moved by Mr. Riley, seconded by Ms. Campbell and Ms. Roberts to declare an emergency to address the repairs at the Concordia Education Center.

 

It was moved by Mr. Riley, seconded by Mr. Butcher and carried to award the bid for exterminating services in the amount of $250 per unit to Bug Blasters of Pineville.

 

It was moved by Ms. Campbell, seconded by Ms. Rabb and carried unanimously to approve the following personnel items in global:

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Ms. Rabb and carried unanimously to adjourn at 6:26 P.M.
