PROCEEDINGS OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF THE PARISH OF CONCORDIA, STATE OF LOUISIANA, TAKEN AT A REGULAR MEETING HELD ON  THURSDAY, JANUARY 15, 2009

The School Board of the Parish of Concordia, State of Louisiana, met in Regular Session at the Concordia Parish School Board office in Vidalia, Louisiana, on Thursday, January 15, 2009, at six (6:00) o’clock P.M.  The meeting was called to order by Mr. Gary Parnham, who after prayer and the Pledge, declared that the Board was ready for the transaction of business.

Members present were,  Ms. Martha Rabb, Mr. Raymond Riley, Sr., Mr. Gary Parnham, Sr., Mr. Fred T. Butcher, Ms. Deanie Roberts and Ms. Darlene Baker.

Members absent were Mr. Ricky Raven, Mr. Daryle Price, and Ms. Mary Campbell.

It was moved by Ms. Roberts, seconded by Mr. Butcher that the officers of the Board remain the same.  Mr. Gary Parnham serves as President of the Board and Mr. Raymond Riley serves as Vice President.

Mr. Parnham announced that the Board Committees would remain as is unless a member wanted to request a change.

Ms. Debbie Smythe, Insurance Clerk, Central Administrative Office, was recognized as the Taylor and Sons Employee of the month.

Ms. Rhonda Cavin, Teacher, Ferriday High School was recognized as having received National Teacher Certification.

Committee chairpersons presented the committee reports for the month.

It was moved by Mr. Riley, seconded by Ms. Rabb and carried unanimously to approve the minutes of December 11, 2008.

It was moved by Mr. Riley, seconded by Ms. Baker to approve invoices in the amount of $3,403,485 for the month of December.

It was moved by Ms. Baker, seconded by Ms. Rabb and carried unanimously to establish the second Thursday of each month for the Board meeting date.  Meeting times would be 6:00 P.M.

It was moved by Ms. Rabb, seconded by Ms Baker and carried unanimously to enter into Executive Session at 6:30 P.M.

It was moved by Ms. Baker, seconded by Ms. Rabb to return to Regular Session at 6:50 P.M.

There was no Board action resulting from Executive Session.

It was moved by Ms. Rabb, seconded by Ms. Baker and carried 5 to 1 with Mr. Riley voting no to approve all personnel items in global.
