PROCEEDINGS OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF THE PARISH OF CONCORDIA, STATE OF LOUISIANA, TAKEN AT A REGULAR MEETING HELD ON THURSDAY, DECEMBER 10, 2009

 

The School Board of the Parish of Concordia, State of Louisiana, met in Regular Session at the Concordia Parish School Board office in Vidalia, Louisiana, on Thursday, December 10, 2009, at six (6:00) o’clock P.M.  The meeting was called to order by Mr. Gary Parnham, who after prayer and the Pledge, declared that the Board was ready for the transaction of business.

 

Members present were, Ms. Mary Campbell, Ms. Darlene Baker, Mr. Gary Parnham, Sr., Ms. Martha Rabb, and Ms. Deanie Roberts.

 

Members absent were Mr. Fred Butcher, Mr. Daryle Price, Mr. Ricky Raven and Mr. Raymond Riley.

 

Superintendent Blankenstein presented the awards to the Concordia Parish Christmas Card Art Contest Winners.

Superintendent Blankenstein recognized Mr. Whest Shirley, Principal, and the staff of Vidalia Junior High School for having achieved the status of Blue Ribbon School.

 

Committee reports were presented by Ms. Blankenstein and Ms. Deanie Roberts.

 

It was moved by Ms. Baker seconded by Ms. Rabb and carried unanimously to approve the minutes of November 12, 2009

 

It was moved by Ms. Baker, seconded by Ms. Roberts and carried unanimously to approve the invoices and financial report for the month of November in the amount of $3,650,094.00.

 

Bids were opened for an agriculture/grazing lease on the Airport Road property as follows:

 

Roy Wagoner               $211.00

Travis Todd                  $701.52

 

It was moved by Ms. Rabb, seconded by Ms. Campbell and carried unanimously to take the bids under advisement and, after review, award to the highest bidder.

 

It was moved by Ms. Baker, seconded by Ms. Roberts and carried unanimously to approve the second reading of the following policies:

 

GBD - Employment of Personnel,                     GBRA - Employee Conduct

JBE - Truancy                                                  JD - Discipline

JDE - Expulsion                                                JGCD - Administration of Medication

GAMIA - Electronic Communications Between Employees and Students

 

It was moved by Ms. Campbell, seconded by Ms. Rabb and carried unanimously to authorize for the collection of a hotel/motel occupancy tax for the Caldwell Parish Tourist Commission to be effective January 1, 2010.

 

It was moved by Ms. Rabb, seconded by Ms. Roberts and carried unanimously to set the January meeting date for Thursday, January 14, 2010.

 

It was moved by Ms. Campbell, seconded by Ms. Rabb and carried unanimously to approve all personnel items in global.

 

Appointments:
