PROCEEDINGS OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF THE PARISH OF CONCORDIA, STATE OF LOUISIANA, TAKEN AT AN ACADEMIC MEETING HELD ON TUESDAY, JANUARY 19, 2010

 

The School Board of the Parish of Concordia, State of Louisiana, met in Academic Session at the Concordia Parish School Board office in Vidalia, Louisiana, on Tuesday, January 19, 2010, at six (6:00) o’clock P.M.  The meeting was called to order by Mr. Gary Parnham, who after prayer and the Pledge, declared that the Board was ready for the transaction of business.

 

Members present were, Mr. Fred Butcher, Mr. Gary Parnham, Sr., Mr. Ricky Raven and Ms. Mary Campbell.

     

Members absent were Ms. Darlene Baker, Mr. Daryle Price, Ms. Martha Rabb, Mr. Raymond Riley, and Ms. Deanie Roberts.  Mr. Butcher left the meeting at 7:48 P.M. 

 

It was decided, by the members present, that the meeting continue without a quorum in light of the fact that this meeting was informational only and no votes would be taken.

 

Each principal addressed a list of questions supplied by Superintendent Blankenstein which centered on school improvement.  The questions were as follows:

  1. If you could make any changes to improve student learning and performance, what would you do?

  2. Please list the school performance scores for the last three years.

  3. What was your growth target for this year?

  4. Was the target met?  Why?  Why not?

  5. What is your growth target for next year?

  6. How do you plan to meet your growth target this year, next year and by the year 2014?

  7. What is your academic rating?  What is required of that rating?

  8. How did you explain to your faculty the scores, rating, and severity of what is required?

  9. What are you doing at your school to improve scores?

  10. How is this different from what you did last year?

  11. What input did you receive from faculty in your SIP?  If asked, would they be aware of the activities in SIP?

  1. What do you see as the primary reason for this steady growth and the amount of growth?

  2. What teacher activities have contributed to the improvement? 

  3. What student activities have contributed to the improvement?

  4. Have you made any changes this year versus last year?  If so, what and why?

  5. What input does your faculty have in the SIP?  Are they aware of the activities in the plan?  If so, how are they made aware?

  6. What is the goal at your school this year?
