PROCEEDINGS OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF THE PARISH OF CONCORDIA, STATE OF LOUISIANA, TAKEN AT A REGULAR MEETING HELD ON THURSDAY, MARCH 11, 2010

 

The School Board of the Parish of Concordia, State of Louisiana, met in Regular Session at the Concordia Parish School Board office in Vidalia, Louisiana, on Thursday, March 11, 2010, at six (6:00) o’clock P.M.  The meeting was called to order by Mr. Gary Parnham, who after prayer and the Pledge, declared that the Board was ready for the transaction of business.

 

Members present were Mr. Fred Butcher, Mr. Daryle Price, Ms. Darlene Baker, Mr. Gary Parnham, Sr., Ms. Mary Campbell, Ms. Martha Rabb, Mr. Raymond Riley and Ms. Deanie Roberts.

 

Member absent was Mr. Ricky Raven.

 

Superintendent Blankenstein presented the Citizenship awards as follows:

Committee reports were presented by each committee chairperson.

 

The Board took up a parent’s grievance relative to the confiscation of his daughters cell phone in accordance with Board policy.  The superintendent explained the grievance and its procedural history.  Thereafter the parent was allowed to present his grievance.  The president called for any motion to modify or reject the administrations decision.  Hearing no motion, the decision of the administration stands.

 

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Ms. Baker and carried unanimously to approve the minutes of February 11, 2010.

 

It was moved by Mr. Riley, seconded by Ms. Baker and carried unanimously to approve invoices in the amount of $3,693,911.

 

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Ms. Rabb and carried unanimously to approve the second reading of all policies as follows:

File DFL - Investments

File ID - Curriculum      

File IDDE - Student Driver Training

File JBCC - Student Assignment

File JGB - School Wellness

File JR - Student Records

File EBBA - Fire Prevention

 

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Ms. Rabb and carried unanimously to approve the revisions to the Parish Technology Plan.

 

It was moved by Mr. Riley, seconded by Ms. Rabb and carried unanimously to move the May Board meeting to May 20, 2010.  Mr. Butcher requested to go on record that he would not be able to attend on this date.

 

A single bid was opened as follows:  Bus 103, Mr. Ronald Renfrow - $576.00

 

It was moved by Mr. Riley, seconded by Mr. Butcher and carried unanimously to take the bid under advisement.

 

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Mr. Riley and carried unanimously to add an item to the agenda concerning the disposal of surplus building and buses.  It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Mr. Riley and carried unanimously to advertise the items once more and if no bids are received, dispose of the items.

 

It was moved by Ms. Campbell, seconded by Mr. Butcher and carried, with Mr. Parnham abstaining, to approve all personnel items in global as follows:

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Mr. Price and carried unanimously to adjourn at 6:35 P.M.
