PROCEEDINGS OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF THE PARISH OF CONCORDIA, STATE OF LOUISIANA, TAKEN AT A PUBLIC HEARING HELD ON THURSDAY, AUGUST 12, 2010    

The School Board of the Parish of Concordia, State of Louisiana, met in a Public Hearing Session at the Concordia Parish School Board office in Vidalia, Louisiana, on Thursday, August 12, 2010, at six (6:00) o’clock P.M.  The meeting was called to order by Mr. Gary Parnham, who after prayer and the Pledge, declared that the Board was ready for the transaction of business.

Members present were Ms. Darlene Baker, Mr. Gary Parnham, Sr., Ms. Mary Campbell, Ms. Martha Rabb, Mr. Raymond Riley, Mr. Fred T. Butcher, Mr. Daryle Price and Mr. Ronnie Bradford.

Member absent was Ms. Deanie Collier.

Mr. Tom O’Neal, Business Director, discussed the current tax levies with Board Members.  Mr. O’Neal recommended to the Board that the levies remain at the current level.

The floor was opened for questions.  There were no questions.  It was moved by Mr. Riley, seconded by Ms. Rabb and carried to close the public hearing at 6:15 P.M.

PROCEEDINGS OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF THE PARISH OF CONCORDIA, STATE OF LOUISIANA, TAKEN AT A REGULAR MEETING HELD ON THURSDAY, AUGUST 12, 2010    

The School Board of the Parish of Concordia, State of Louisiana, met in Regular Session at the Concordia Parish School Board office in Vidalia, Louisiana, on Thursday, August 12, 2010, at six (6:15) o’clock P.M.  The meeting was called to order by Mr. Gary Parnham.

The Board recognized Mr. Ricky Raven for fourteen years of service to the Concordia Parish School System as Board Member.  Mr. Raven was presented with a framed certificate.

Committee reports were provided for the Board.

It was moved by Mr. Price, seconded by Ms. Rabb and carried unanimously to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of July 8, 2010.

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Ms. Rabb and carried unanimously to approve invoices in the amount of $1,156,373 for the month of July.

It was moved by Ms. Rabb, seconded by Ms. Baker and carried unanimously to approve the resolution for the Constitutional Tax Millage for 2010 on a roll call vote as follows:

It was moved by Ms. Baker, seconded by Ms. Rabb and carried unanimously to approve the resolution for tax Millage for 2010 on a roll call vote as follows:

Mr. James McGee, Supervisor of Maintenance, Transportation and School Food Service, opened bids for exterminating services for the cafeterias.  There were no on-line bids.  Bids were as follows:

Bug Blasters                $2,750 or $250 per unit for 11 units

Orkin Pest Control      $2,475 or $225 per unit for 11 units

It was moved by Mr. Riley, seconded by Mr. Butcher and carried unanimously to take the bids under advisement and grant Mr. O’Neal the authority to award the bid to the lowest bidder.

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Ms. Baker and carried unanimously to accept the recommendation from the Transportation Committee to allow school bus operators to use the repair allotment for either repairs or the payment of insurance premiums. 

It was moved by Ms. Campbell, seconded by Mr. Bradford and carried unanimously to approve all personnel items in global as follows:
