PROCEEDINGS OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF THE PARISH OF CONCORDIA, STATE OF LOUISIANA, TAKEN AT A PUBLIC HEARING HELD ON THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 2010   

 

The School Board of the Parish of Concordia, State of Louisiana, met in a Public Hearing Session at the Concordia Parish School Board office in Vidalia, Louisiana, on Thursday, September 9, 2010, at six (6:00) o’clock P.M.  The meeting was called to order by Mr. Gary Parnham, who after prayer and the Pledge, declared that the Board was ready for the transaction of business.

 

Members present were Ms. Darlene Baker, Mr. Gary Parnham, Sr., Ms. Mary Campbell, Ms. Martha Rabb, Mr. Raymond Riley, Mr. Fred T. Butcher, Mr. Daryle Price, Ms. Deanie Collier and Mr. Ronnie Bradford.

 

Mr. O’Neal reviewed the 2010-2011 Consolidated Budget.   Items discussed included sales tax collections, maintenance issues, and the age of air conditioning units.  The floor was opened for questions.  There were no questions.  The public hearing was closed at 6:24 P.M.

 

PROCEEDINGS OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF THE PARISH OF CONCORDIA, STATE OF LOUISIANA, TAKEN AT A REGULAR MEETING HELD ON THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 2010          

 

The School Board of the Parish of Concordia, State of Louisiana, met in Regular Session at the Concordia Parish School Board office in Vidalia, Louisiana, on Thursday, September 9, 2010, immediately following the public hearing.  The meeting was called to order by Mr. Gary Parnham.

Mr. Joe Bairnsfather recognized 4-H students who placed in state level competition.

 

Superintendent Blankenstein recognized Vidalia Junior High School for having achieved Recognized Academic Growth.  She also recognized Monterey and Vidalia Lower for having achieved Exemplary Academic Growth.

 

Committee reports were provided to the Board.

 

It was moved by Mr. Price, seconded by Ms. Rabb and carried unanimously to approve the minutes of August 12, 2010.

 

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Ms. Baker and carried unanimously to approve the financial report for the month of August in the amount of $1,297,783.

 

Bids for 850 cases of 8 ½ x 11 -20 lb. copy paper were opened as follows:

Unisource                                 30.95 per case             $26,30.50

Economical Jant. & Paper         24.48 per case             $24,208.00

LH Printing Co, Inc                                                      $23,996.00

 

It was moved by Ms. Rabb, seconded by Mr. Bradford and carried unanimously to take the bids under advisement and authorize the administration to review and award the bid.

 

It was moved by Ms. Baker, seconded by Mr. Price and carried unanimously to approve the 2010-2011 Consolidated Budget.

 

It was moved by Mr. Price, seconded by Ms. Collier and carried unanimously to approval the compliance statement.

 

It was moved by Ms. Baker, seconded by Ms. Rabb and carried unanimously to approve the first reading of the following policies:

It was moved by Ms. Campbell, seconded by Mr. Bradford and carried unanimously to approve the following personnel items:

It was moved by Ms. Rabb, seconded by Mr. Riley and carried unanimously to adjourn at 7:00 P.M.
