PROCEEDINGS OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF THE PARISH OF CONCORDIA, STATE OF LOUISIANA, TAKEN AT A REGULAR MEETING HELD ON THURSDAY, DECEMBER 9, 2010           

 

The School Board of the Parish of Concordia, State of Louisiana, met in Regular Session at the Concordia Parish School Board office in Vidalia, Louisiana, on Thursday, December 9, 2010, at six (6:00) o’clock P.M..  The meeting was called to order by Mr. Gary Parnham, who after prayer and the Pledge, declared that the Board was ready for the transaction of business.

 

Members present were Mr. Gary Parnham, Sr., Ms. Mary Campbell, Mr. Ronnie Bradford, Mr. Raymond Riley, and Mr. Fred T. Butcher.

 

Members absent was Ms. Darlene Baker, Mr. Daryle Price, Ms. Martha Rabb, and Ms. Deanie Collier.

 

Superintendent Blankenstein presented the Christmas Card Art Contest Winners as follows:

Superintendent Blankenstein presented the Student of the Year Awards as follows:

Committee reports were provided to the Board.

 

It was moved by Mr. Riley, seconded by Mr. Butcher and carried unanimously to approve the minutes of November 11, 2010.

 

It was moved by Mr. Riley, seconded by Ms. Campbell and carried unanimously to approve the financial report for the month of November in the amount of $3,161,057.

 

It was moved by Mr. Riley, seconded by Mr. Bradford and carried unanimously to set the January Board Meeting date for Thursday, January 13, 2011.

 

It was moved by Mr. Riley, seconded by Ms. Campbell and carried unanimously to approve the first reading of the following policies:

 

ABD - School Superintendent Legal Status       BBBC - Board Member Continuing Education

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Ms. Campbell and carried unanimously to approve the following recommendation from the superintendent:

 

For the next fiscal year (2011-2012) employees will receive an additional check in August of 2011.  The amount will be $600 for all currently employed, full-time staff employed on or before October 1, 2010.  The 13th check will be paid on the second Friday of January 2012.  The amount is set at $200 for non-certified employees and $400 for certified employees.    As they have in the past several years, in November the Board will review the sales tax revenue and determine if an additional amount can be distributed. 

 

Mr. Butcher requested that the Superintendent look at the 80% fund to continue paying the full amount in January and to go into the reserve if need be.

 

It was moved by Ms. Campbell, seconded by Mr. Bradford and carried unanimously to approve the personnel items in global.
