PROCEEDINGS OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF THE PARISH OF CONCORDIA, STATE OF LOUISIANA, TAKEN AT A REGULAR MEETING HELD ON MONDAY, MAY 14, 2012
The School Board of the Parish of Concordia, State of Louisiana, met in Regular Session at the Concordia Parish School Board office in Vidalia, Louisiana, on Monday, May 14, 2012, at 6:00 P.M.. The meeting was called to order by Mr. Gary Parnham who after prayer and the Pledge, declared that the Board was ready for the transaction of business.
Members present were Mr. Gary Parnham, Sr., Ms. Mary Campbell, Ms. Darlene Baker, Mr. Charles Minor, Ms. Angela Hayes, Mr. Fred T. Butcher, Ms. Cheryl Probst and Mr. Warren Enterkin.
Member absent was Mr. Raymond Riley.
Committee reports were provided by each committee chairperson.
It was moved by Ms. Baker, seconded by Mr. Minor and carried unanimously to approve the minutes of April 12, 2012.
It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Ms. Baker and carried unanimously to approve invoices in the amount of $3,513,479 for the month of April.
Ms. Cheryl Probst, College and Career Transition Coordinator, Louisiana Technical College, recognized the participants of the Choices Program. This program uses volunteers from the business community to go into 8th grade classrooms to share information with students. Fellow Board Member Mr. Charles Minor, who participated in the program, stated that he welcomed the opportunity to give back to the community.
It was moved by Mr. Minor, seconded by Ms. Baker and carried to approve the second reading of policy GBRJ - Substitutes.
It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Ms. Campbell and carried to approve the resolution providing for canvassing the returns and declaring the results of the election held in the parish of Concordia on March 24, 2012. See attached.
Mr. O’Neal presented the 2011-12 Consolidated Budget Revision. It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Ms. Baker and carried unanimously to approve the budget revision.
It was moved by Ms. Campbell, seconded by Mr. Enterkin and carried unanimously to approve an early dismissal day on May 21, in order for teachers to attend Common Core Curriculum meetings.
It was moved by Ms. Baker, seconded by Mr. Butcher and carried unanimously to approve an amendment to the mineral lease resolution with Avoyelles Parish.
It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Mr. Minor and carried unanimously to table the redistricting plan until all members are present.
It was moved by Ms. Baker, seconded by Mr. Butcher and carried unanimously to approve the closure of Ridgecrest School at the end of the 2011-2012 academic year.
It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Ms. Baker and carried unanimously to approve the establishment of a Magnet Program at the Ridgecrest site.
It was moved by Ms. Baker, seconded by Mr. Enterkin and carried unanimously to approve the first reading of Policy GBA - Contracts and Compensation.
It was moved by Ms. Campbell, seconded by Mr. Butcher and carried unanimously to approve all personnel items in global.
Recommendation:
Recommendation for position of supervisor of child nutrition to be effective July 1, 2012.
