PROCEEDINGS OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF THE PARISH OF CONCORDIA, STATE OF LOUISIANA, TAKEN AT A REGULAR MEETING HELD ON THURSDAY, JULY 12, 2012    

 

The School Board of the Parish of Concordia, State of Louisiana, met in Regular Session at the Concordia Parish School Board office in Vidalia, Louisiana, on Thursday, July 12, 2012, at 6:00 P.M. The meeting was called to order by Mr. Gary Parnham who after prayer and the Pledge, declared that the Board was ready for the transaction of business.

 

Members present were Mr. Gary Parnham, Sr., Ms. Mary Campbell, Ms. Darlene Baker, Mr. Charles Minor, Ms. Angela Hayes, Mr. Fred T. Butcher, Ms. Cheryl Probst, Mr. Raymond Riley and Mr. Warren Enterkin.

 

Committee reports were provided by each committee chairperson.

 

It was moved by Mr. Minor, seconded by Mr. Butcher and Ms. Baker and carried unanimously to approve the minutes of June 14, and June 18, 2012. 

 

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Ms. Baker and carried unanimously to approve invoices in the amount of $3,828,667.

 

It was moved by Ms. Baker, seconded by Mr. Minor and carried unanimously to appoint Dr. Paul Nelson as Superintendent of Concordia Parish Schools.  Roll call vote is as follows:

It was moved by Ms. Campbell, seconded by Mr. Minor and carried unanimously to approve the 2012-2013 Pupil Progression Plan.

 

It was moved by Mr. Riley, seconded by Mr. Butcher and carried unanimously to approve the second reading of Policy JBCD - Student Transfer and Withdrawal.

 

It was moved by Mr. Minor, seconded by Ms. Probst and carried unanimously to set the meeting date for approval of superintendent’s contract, employee supplements and other personnel issues for July 30, 2012.

 

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Ms. Hayes and carried unanimously to grant permission for the disposal of the portable building at Ridgecrest Elementary School.

 

It was moved by Mr. Minor, seconded by Ms. Baker and carried unanimously to approve Concordia Parish Academy of Math, Science, and Technology as the name for the Magnet Program located in Ridgecrest.

 

It was moved by Ms. Baker, seconded by Mr. Riley and carried unanimously to approve the payment of college tuition for dual enrollment high school students.

 

It was moved by Mr. Minor, seconded by Ms. Baker and carried unanimously to add an item relative to the appointment of a Director of Elementary Education and a Director of Secondary Education.  Roll call vote is as follows:
