PROCEEDINGS OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF THE PARISH OF CONCORDIA, STATE OF LOUISIANA, TAKEN AT A REGULAR MEETING HELD ON THURSDAY, JANUARY 10, 2013      

 

The School Board of the Parish of Concordia, State of Louisiana, met in Regular Session at the Concordia Parish School Board office in Vidalia, Louisiana, on Thursday, January 10, 2013.  The meeting was called to order by Mr. Gary Parnham who after prayer and the Pledge, declared that the Board was ready for the transaction of business.

 

Members present were Mr. Gary Parnham, Sr., Ms. Mary Campbell, Ms. Darlene Baker,

Mr. Charles Minor, Mr. Jeffery Goodman, Mr. Warren Enterkin and Ms. Cheryl Probst.

 

Mr. Fred T. Butcher arrived at 6:05 p.m.

 

Mr. Raymond Riley arrived at 6:10 p.m.

 

It was moved by Mr. Baker, seconded by Ms. Probst and carried unanimously that the officers remain the same with Mr. Gary Parnham as president and Mr. Raymond Riley as vice-president.

 

Mr. Parnham announced that the committees will remain as is unless a member requested a change.

It was moved by Ms. Baker, seconded by Ms. Campbell and carried unanimously for the Board meetings to remain on the second Thursday of each month at 6:00 P.M.

It was moved by Mr. Minor, seconded by Ms. Baker and carried unanimously to approve the minutes of December 13, 2012.

 

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Ms. Baker and carried unanimously to approve invoices in the amount of $5,162,169 for the month of December.

 

It was moved by Mr. Enterkin, seconded by Ms. Baker and carried unanimously to approve Resolutions to Authorize the Louisiana State Mineral and Energy Board to Nominate Property for State Agency Mineral Lease

It was moved by Mr. Riley, seconded by Ms. Campbell and carried unanimously to approve the first reading of the following policies:

            FDC - Naming of Facilities

            IEB - Class Size

 

Mr. O’Neal reviewed the audit report with Board Members.  Members were provided with copies of the audit report earlier for review.

 

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Ms. Baker to adopt school colors, mascot and uniform logo for Concordia Parish Academy.

Superintendent Dr. Paul Nelson announced the large amounts of rain required moving Concordia Education Center students to Ferriday High School on Thursday.  Concordia Education Center classes are canceled for Friday, January 11, 2013. 

 

There are roof leaks at other locations but all other schools remained open.  Culverts at Ferriday High School will be fixed on Friday, January 11, 2013.

 

The 13th check will be issued January 11, 2013.

 

Bleachers at Vidalia Junior High are to be installed Friday, January 11, 2013.

 

Mrs. Morales had flooding problems and was unable to attend the board meeting so Ms. Debbie Smythe filled in.
