PROCEEDINGS OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF THE PARISH OF CONCORDIA, STATE OF LOUISIANA, TAKEN AT A REGULAR MEETING HELD ON THURSDAY, APRIL 11, 2013  

 

The School Board of the Parish of Concordia, State of Louisiana, met in Regular Session at the Concordia Parish School Board office in Vidalia, Louisiana, on Thursday, April 11, 2013, at 6:00 P.M.  The meeting was called to order by Mr. Gary Parnham who after prayer and the Pledge, declared that the Board was ready for the transaction of business.

 

Members present were Mr. Gary Parnham, Sr., Ms. Mary Campbell, Ms. Darlene Baker, Mr. Charles Minor, Mr. Warren Enterkin, Mr. Jeffery Goodman, Ms. Cheryl Probst, Mr. Raymond Riley, and Mr. Fred T. Butcher.

 

Committee Reports were presented for each of the respective committees.

 

It was moved by Mr. Enterkin, seconded by Ms. Baker and carried unanimously to approve the minutes of March 14, 2013.

 

It was moved by Ms. Baker, seconded by Mr. Minor and carried unanimously to approve invoices in the amount of $3,774,255 for the month of March.

 

It was moved by Ms. Campbell, seconded by Mr. Butcher and carried unanimously to approve the ordering and calling of an election to authorize the (renewal) levy of a special tax and making application to the State Bond Commission for same.  Roll call vote is as follows:

It was moved by Ms. Baker, seconded by Mr. Butcher to approve the second reading of the following Policies:  Passed eight to one -   Mr.  Raymond Riley voted No.

 

            GBKA - Suspension                           GBRHA - Sabbatical Leave

            GBM - Personnel Transfer                  GBRIB - Sick Leave

            GBO - Resignation                             GBRIBB - Sick Leave Bank

            GBRB - Employee Attendance          GBRJ - Substitute Personnel

 

It was moved by Ms. Probst, seconded by Mrs. Campbell and carried unanimously to approve the summer school schedule and location.

 

It was moved by Mr. Enterkin, seconded by Ms. Baker and carried unanimously to approve the Durham contract extension.

 

Consider changing board meeting schedule for the remainder of 2013 from the second Thursday of each month to the second Tuesday was pulled by Mr. Fred T. Butcher until the board meeting in May.

 

It was moved by Mr. Riley, seconded by Ms. Campbell and carried unanimously to approve the preliminary approval for the building of a new gym at Ferriday Junior High School.

 

It was moved by Ms. Baker, seconded by Mr. Minor and carried unanimously to approve the nomination for mineral lease.

Delana Willis, paraprofessional, Vidalia Lower Elementary, extended medical leave, effective upon exhaustion of accumulated sick leave

Dr. Paul Nelson announced spring testing started this week in the schools and was off to a good start.

 

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Mr. Minor and carried unanimously to adjourn at 6:35 P.M.
