PROCEEDINGS OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF THE PARISH OF CONCORDIA, STATE OF LOUISIANA, TAKEN AT A REGULAR MEETING HELD ON THURSDAY, JANUARY 16, 2014         

 

The School Board of the Parish of Concordia, State of Louisiana, met in Regular Session at the Concordia Parish School Board office in Vidalia, Louisiana, on Thursday, January 16, 2014.  The meeting was called to order by Mr. Raymond Riley who after prayer and the Pledge, declared that the Board was ready for the transaction of business.

 

Members present were Mr. Raymond Riley, Ms. Mary Campbell, Ms. Darlene Baker, Mr. Charles Minor, Mr. Jeffery Goodman, Mr. Warren Enterkin, Ms. Cheryl Probst and Mr. Fred T. Butcher

 

Member absent was Mr. Gary Parnham.

 

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Ms. Campbell and carried unanimously to nominate Mr. Raymond Riley as president.

 

It was moved by Ms. Baker, seconded by Mr. Butcher and carried unanimously to nominate Mrs. Cheryl Probst as vice-president.

 

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Ms. Campbell and carried unanimously for the committees to remain the same.

Dr. Nelson recognized Marcus Chapman, a 9th grader at Vidalia High School, Christmas ornament selected for display in the Louisiana Governor’s Mansion for the month of December.

 

Committee Reports were presented.

 

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Mr. Minor and carried unanimously to approve the minutes of December 12, 2013.

 

It was moved by Mr. Baker, seconded by Ms. Butcher and carried unanimously to approve invoices in the amount of $5,419,450 for the month of December.

 

Mrs. Cindy Smith gave a presentation on Eureka Math.

 

Mr. O’Neal reviewed the audit report with Board Members.  Members were provided with copies of the audit report for review.

 

It was moved by Ms. Probst, seconded by Mr. Butcher and carried unanimously to approve authorization for the superintendent to put together study for potential College & Career Center to be built in Ferriday, LA

 

The following Personnel Announcements were made:

 

Leaves:

Debra Hill, Teacher, Ferriday Upper Elementary School, extended sick leave, effective January 6, 2014 through January 24, 2014.

 

LaRuth Lewis, Teacher, Vidalia Junior High School, return from extended sick leave effective January 6, 2014.

 

Jennifer Chatman, School Bus Aide, maternity leave, effective January 22, 2014 through March 18, 2014.

 

Ivy Quinn, Head Custodian, Ferriday Lower Elementary School, extended sick leave through January 29, 2014, effective upon exhaustion of accumulated sick leave.
