PROCEEDINGS OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF THE PARISH OF CONCORDIA, STATE OF LOUISIANA, TAKEN AT A REGULAR MEETING HELD ON THURSDAY, MAY 8, 2014        

 

The School Board of the Parish of Concordia, State of Louisiana, met in Regular Session at the Concordia Parish School Board office in Vidalia, Louisiana, on Thursday, May 8, 2014, at 6:00 P.M.  The meeting was called to order by Mr. Raymond Riley who after prayer and the Pledge, declared that the Board was ready for the transaction of business.

 

Members present were Mr. Gary Parnham, Sr., Ms. Mary Campbell, Ms. Darlene Baker, Mr. Jeffery Goodman, Mr. Raymond Riley, Mr. Charles Minor, Ms. Cheryl Probst and Mr. Warren Enterkin.

 

 Mr. Fred T. Butcher arrived at 6:08 p.m.

 

It was moved by Ms. Baker, seconded by Ms. Probst and carried unanimously to amend item E listed on the agenda to consider increasing lunch and breakfast prices for 2015 and 2016 school years.

 

The Board recognized the Superintendent’s Advisory Council 2013-2014 members.

It was moved by Mr. Minor, seconded by Mr. Parnham and carried unanimously to approve the minutes of April 10, 2014.

 

It was moved by Mr. Minor, seconded by Ms. Campbell and carried unanimously to approve invoices in the amount of $3,405,770 for the month of April. 

 

Ms. Spain and Ms. Jeffers gave a presentation on the trip to Costa Rica by the Conexiones group.

 

It was moved by Mr. Enterkin, seconded by Ms. Baker and carried unanimously to approve changes to the Pupil Progression Plan.

 

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Ms. Baker and carried to approve the Summer Conditioning Project.  Roll call vote is as follows:

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Ms. Probst and carried unanimously to approve job descriptions for coaches, band directors, and cheerleader sponsors.

 

It was moved by Mr. Minor, seconded by Ms. Baker and carried unanimously to approve increasing lunch and breakfast prices for 2014 - 2015 and 2015 - 2016 school years.

Dr. Nelson made the following announcements:

 

Teacher Appreciation Week - as a token of our appreciation, cakes were delivered to all schools on Wednesday, May 7, 2014.

 

We will be depositing the May "13th Check" of $500 on Friday, May 9, 2014.

 

End of Course testing began Monday, May 5, 2014, throughout the parish.

 

Just a reminder, Sunday, May 11, 2014, was Mother’s Day.
