PROCEEDINGS OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF THE PARISH OF CONCORDIA, STATE OF LOUISIANA, TAKEN AT A REGULAR MEETING HELD ON TUESDAY, JULY 22, 2014

 

The School Board of the Parish of Concordia, State of Louisiana, met in Regular Session at the Concordia Parish School Board office in Vidalia, Louisiana, on Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at 6:00 P.M. The meeting was called to order by Mr. Raymond Riley who after prayer and the Pledge, declared that the Board was ready for the transaction of business.

 

Members present were Mr. Gary Parnham, Sr., Ms. Mary Campbell, Mr. Charles Minor, Mr. Jeffery Goodman, Mr. Fred T. Butcher, Ms. Cheryl Probst, Mr. Raymond Riley and Mr. Warren Enterkin.

 

Member absent was Ms. Darlene Baker.

 

Committee reports were provided by each committee chairperson.

 

It was moved by Mr. Parnham, seconded by Mr. Minor and carried unanimously to approve the minutes of June 12, and June 26, 2014. 

 

It was moved by Ms. Probst, seconded by Mr. Minor and carried unanimously to approve invoices in the amount of $4,320,766.

 

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Mr. Parnham and carried unanimously to approve the first reading of Policy IKDB - Graduation Exercises.

It was moved by Mr. Parnham, seconded by Mr. Enterkin and carried unanimously for Mr. O’Neal to take the bids under advisement and grant authority to award the bid.

 

Dr. Nelson asked the board to table discussion on consideration of the extension of his contract.

 

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Mr. Minor to enter into Executive Session at 6:13 P.M. to discuss the Superintendent’s Evaluation Results.

 

It was moved by Mr. Parnham, seconded by Mr. Minor and carried unanimously to return to Regular Session at 6:59 P.M.

 

Mr. Raymond Riley commended Dr. Nelson for his service in showing improvement in test scores in the Ferriday area schools.  Mr. Riley also stated that we need to work on parental involvement in an effort to make our schools better and is looking forward to a successful school year.

New Teacher Orientation will be held on July 31- August 1, 2014, at the Central Office.  We would like to invite all board members to lunch on Friday, August 1, 2014 at 12:00 noon to meet our new teachers.

 

Tech Day will be held on August 4, 2014, at Vidalia High School beginning at 8:00 a.m.

 

Due to school opening on Monday, August 11, 2014, the committee meetings will be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2014.
