PROCEEDINGS OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF THE PARISH OF CONCORDIA, STATE OF LOUISIANA, TAKEN AT A REGULAR MEETING HELD ON THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 13, 2014
The School Board of the Parish of Concordia, State of Louisiana, met in Regular Session at the Concordia Parish School Board office in Vidalia, Louisiana, on Thursday, November 13, 2014. The meeting was called to order by Mr. Raymond Riley who after prayer and the Pledge, declared that the Board was ready for the transaction of business.
Members present were Mr. Gary Parnham, Sr., Ms. Mary Campbell, Mr. Fred T. Butcher, Mr. Warren Enterkin, Ms. Darlene Baker, Mr. Charles Minor and Ms. Cheryl Probst, Mr. Jeffery Goodman and Mr. Raymond Riley.
Dr. Paul Nelson recognized the students receiving the Murray Citizenship Awards in Grades 6-8.

Dr. Paul Nelson recognized the Cleanest Campus Winners for the Quarter.

Committee reports were presented.
It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Ms. Campbell and carried unanimously to approve the minutes of October 9, 2014.
It was moved by Mr. Minor, seconded by Ms. Probst and carried unanimously to approve invoices in the amount of $3,929,258 for the month of October.
It was moved by Mr. Enterkin, seconded by Mr. Butcher and carried unanimously to approve the first reading of the following policies.
ABCC – Term of Office GBRJ – Substitute Personnel
BCBB – Notification of School Board Meetings ID - Curriculum
BCBD – Agenda Preparation and Dissemination IFA – Instructional Materials
BCBH – Minutes of School Board Meetings JBC – School Admission
It was moved by Ms. Campbell, seconded by Mr. Parnham and carried unanimously to approve the second reading of the following policy.
JQE – Pregnant Students
It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Ms. Probst and carried unanimously to approve the board meetings dates for 2015.
It was moved by Ms. Baker, seconded by Mr. Parnham and carried unanimously to approve the adjustment to National Board Certified Staff Supplements and Selected Coaching Supplements.
It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Mr. Parnham and carried unanimously for the board to enter into Executive Session at 6:20 p.m. to discuss a personnel issue.
It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Mr. Parnham and carried unanimously to return to Regular Session at 6:50 p.m.
Superintendent Nelson recommended Aaron McKeel be terminated from his position as head custodian at the Concordia Parish Academy. It was moved by Mr. Enterkin, seconded by Mr. Butcher and approved seven to one on a roll call vote to terminate Mr. Aaron McKeel.

Valenthia Smith, school counselor, Concordia Education Center, extended medical leave upon exhaustion of accumulated sick leave, effective November 11, 2014 – December 23, 2014.
Lydia Evans, paraprofessional, Ferriday Junior High School, extended medical leave upon exhaustion of accumulated sick leave, effective October 1, 2014 – March 4, 2015.
Elsa Carter, teacher, Ferriday Junior High School, extended medical leave upon exhaustion of accumulated sick leave, effective November 17, 2014 – January 5, 2015.
Amber Nugent, teacher, Concordia Parish Academy of Math, Science and Technology, return from maternity/extended medical leave, effective September 29, 2014.

Dr. Nelson made the following announcements:
Congratulations to the Ferriday High School Trojans Football Team for making the playoffs.
They will be traveling to Lake Arthur, LA on Friday, November 14, 2014.
The third Friday, November 21, 2014, will be pay day for our employees.
