PROCEEDINGS OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF THE PARISH OF CONCORDIA, STATE OF LOUISIANA, TAKEN AT A REGULAR MEETING HELD ON THURSDAY, JANUARY 15, 2015

The School Board of the Parish of Concordia, State of Louisiana, met in Regular Session at the Concordia Parish School Board office in Vidalia, Louisiana, on Thursday, January 15, 2015.  The meeting was called to order by Mr. Raymond Riley who after prayer and the Pledge, declared that the Board was ready for the transaction of business.

Members present were Mr. Raymond Riley, Ms. Mary Campbell, Mr. John Bostic, Mr. Ronnie Bradford, Mr. Rickey Raven, Mr. Warren Enterkin, Ms. Cheryl Probst and Mr. Fred T. Butcher.

Member absent was Mr. Jeffery Goodman.

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, and seconded by Ms. Campbell and carried unanimously that the officers of the Board remain the same.  Mr. Raymond Riley, Sr., serves as President of the board and Mrs. Cheryl Probst serves as vice president.  Roll call vote is as follows:

Mr. Raymond Riley announced that the Board Committees would remain as is unless a member wanted to request a change.

The Board recognized Amber Nugent, as having received the “Elementary Math Teacher of Year” award from the LATM.

Committee Reports were presented.

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Mr. Bradford and carried unanimously to approve the minutes of December 11, 2014.

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Ms. Probst and carried unanimously to approve invoices in the amount of $5,279,762 for the month of December.

Mr. O’Neal reviewed the audit report with Board Members.  Members were provided with copies of the audit report for review.

It was moved by Ms. Campbell, seconded by Mr. Enterkin and carried unanimously to approve the First Reading of the following policies:

DE – Debt Limitation

DFD – Tax and Bond Elections and Sales

DFL – Cash Management and Investments

DJE – Purchasing

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Mr. Bostic and carried unanimously for the Board Member’s Compensation to remain as is.

Leaves:

Mary L. Williams, paraprofessional, Ferriday Lower Elementary School, unpaid leave of absence upon exhaustion of accumulated sick leave, effective January 20, 2015 – May 13, 2015.

Shannon Madison, paraprofessional, Ferriday Junior High School, unpaid family and medical leave upon exhaustion of accumulated sick leave, effective January 6, 2015 – February 16, 2015.

Mary Cupit, teacher, Vidalia High School, extended medical leave upon exhaustion of accumulated sick leave, effective December 16, 2014 – March 15, 2015.

Elsa Carter, teacher, Ferriday Junior High School, return from extended medical effective January 5, 2015.

Dr. Paul Nelson made the following announcements:

The system will be closed on Monday, January 19, 2015, in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Holiday.

We are now in the second semester of school.

New adjustments will be made to the PARRC Assessment.
