PROCEEDINGS OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF THE PARISH OF CONCORDIA, STATE OF LOUISIANA, TAKEN AT A REGULAR MEETING HELD ON THURSDAY, OCTOBER 13, 2016

The School Board of the Parish of Concordia, State of Louisiana, met in Regular Session at the Concordia Parish School Board office in Vidalia, Louisiana, on Thursday, October 13, 2016.  The meeting was called to order by Mr. Raymond Riley who after prayer and the Pledge, declared that the Board was ready for the transaction of business.

Members present were Mr. Warren Enterkin, Ms. Mary Campbell, Mr. Ronnie Bradford, Mr. Raymond Riley, Ms. Cheryl Probst, Mr. Jeffery Goodman, Mr. John Bostic and Mr. Rickey Raven.

Board Member Mr. Fred T. Butcher arrived at 6:04 p.m.

Mrs. Loretta Blankenstein recognized the students receiving the Sidney Murray Citizenship Awards in Grades 9-12.

Committee reports were presented. 

It was moved by Mr. Raven, seconded by Mr. Butcher and carried unanimously to approve the minutes of September 15, 2016.

It was moved by Ms. Probst, seconded by Mr. Bostic and carried unanimously to approve invoices in the amount of $3,404,467.

It was moved by Mr. Bradford, seconded by Mr. Raven and carried unanimously to approve Agricultural Lease Assignments as follows:

1)      Concordia Parish School Board to Maxwell Family, LLC – This lease is a 128.05 acre tract of School Indemnity Land, being situated in Section 7, T8N, R10E that was recently exchanged with Maxwell Family, LLC.  Under the same terms and conditions, the Concordia Parish School Board’s lease with Max & Jane Huff Farms is hereby assigned to the new property owners, Maxwell Family, LLC.  Current lease holder has acknowledged assignment and release of the Concordia Parish School Board as the original Lessor.

2)      Maxwell Family, LLC to Concordia Parish School Board – This Lease is a 101.79 acre tract being a portion of Lot 2 of the Wakefield Plantation, situated in Section 32, T9N, R10E, that was recently exchanged with Maxwell Family, LLC.  Under the same terms and conditions, the lease held by Maxwell Family, LLC with Sidney Plaisance Farms is hereby assigned to the new property owners, the Concordia Parish School Board.  Current leaseholder has acknowledged assignment and release of Maxwell Family, LLC as the original Lessor.

It was moved by Mr. Bradford, seconded by Ms. Probst and carried unanimously to approve the   two (2) year renewal option on Agricultural Lease Section (16), T7N, R8E (Frogmore).  This lease extension is being granted under the provisions of the current lease and is being requested by Lessee, Thomas Ater.  The newly established term is to expire on December 31, 2018.

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Mr. Bradford and carried unanimously to approve disposal of small portable building at Ferriday High School.

Sandra Dunn, teacher, Vidalia Lower Elementary School, sabbatical leave upon exhaustion of extended sick leave, effective September 26, 2016 through May 19, 2017.

Debra Hill, teacher, Ferriday Upper Elementary School, sabbatical leave upon exhaustion of extended sick leave September 30, 2016 through December 31, 2016.

Mrs. Loretta Blankenstein made the following announcements:

Friday, October 14, 2016, Ferriday High School and Vidalia High School will be celebrating their homecoming which will be an early dismissal day.

Friday, October 21, 2016, Report Card Day which will be an early dismissal day.
