PROCEEDINGS OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF THE PARISH OF CONCORDIA, STATE OF LOUISIANA, TAKEN AT A SPECIAL MEETING HELD ON MONDAY, APRIL 24, 2017.
The School Board of the Parish of Concordia, State of Louisiana, met in Special Session at the Concordia Parish School Board office in Vidalia, Louisiana, on Monday, April 24, 2017 at 6:00 P.M. The meeting was called to order by Mr. Raymond Riley, who after prayer and the Pledge, declared that the Board was ready for the transaction of business.
Members present were Ms. Mary Campbell, Mr. Fred T. Butcher, Ms. Cheryl Probst, Mr. Jeffery Goodman, Mr. John Bostic and Mr. Raymond Riley, Sr.
Members absent were Mr. Ronnie Bradford, Mr. Warren Enterkin and Mr. Rickey Raven.
Due to previous confusion over qualifications for the superintendent’s position the board decided to re-advertise. Only one candidate out of six qualified for the position based on the previous guidelines.
It was moved by Mr. Bostic, seconded by Mr. Goodman and carried unanimously to suspend the Concordia Parish School Board Policy regarding the qualifications for superintendent and adopt the state policy.
Applicants must hold current valid Louisiana certification for Superintendent, Educational Leader Certificate Level 3 (School superintendent or letter of eligibility for Ed Leader Level 3) or state of Louisiana issued out-of-state superintendent certificate.
It was moved by Mr. Bostic, seconded by Mr. Butcher and carried unanimously to run the new advertisement for the superintendent’s position for the next two weeks in the following papers: The Concordia Sentinel, Natchez Democrat and the Monroe News Star World.
It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Mr. Bostic and carried unanimously to follow the same procedure as before to have a third party, Mrs. LaTanga Blackson, Personnel Supervisor from Franklin Parish School Board, to review applications and follow the guidelines stated in the advertisement.
It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Mr. Bostic and carried unanimously to accept applications for the superintendent’s position until Monday, May 15, 2017, at 4:00 p.m. Applications should be mailed to the Human Resource Personnel Coordinator (Mrs. Rhonda Moore) and she will take them directly to Mrs. LaTanga Blackson at the Franklin Parish School Board Office, Winnsboro, LA.
Mrs. LaTanga Blackson will review and let Mrs. Rhonda Moore know how many applicants qualified for the position.
The next board meeting will be held on May 18, 2017, the board will then set a date and time for interviews.
