PROCEEDINGS OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF THE PARISH OF CONCORDIA, STATE OF LOUISIANA, TAKEN AT A REGULAR MEETING HELD ON THURSDAY, JUNE 8, 2017

 

The School Board of the Parish of Concordia, State of Louisiana, met in Regular Session at the Concordia Parish School Board office in Vidalia, Louisiana, on Thursday, June 8, 2017, at 6:00 P.M. The meeting was called to order by Mr. Raymond Riley, who after prayer and the pledge, declared that the Board was ready for the transaction of business.

 

Members present were Mr. Warren Enterkin, Ms. Mary Campbell, Mr. Fred T. Butcher, Mr. Ronnie Bradford, Ms. Cheryl Probst, Mr. John Bostic, Mr. Jeffery Goodman, Mr. Ricky Raven, and Mr. Raymond Riley, Sr.

 

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Mr. Bostic and carried unanimously to add an item to the agenda to enter into Executive Session with the school board attorney, Mr. Bob Hammonds to discuss results of litigation entitled “Smith and United States v. Concordia Parish School Board”, Civil Action No. 65-CV-11577 on the docket of the United States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana.

 

Committee reports were provided by each committee chairperson.

 

It was moved by Mr. Enterkin, seconded by Mr. Butcher and carried unanimously to approve the minutes of May 18, 2017, and June 1, 2017.

 

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Mr. Bostic and carried unanimously to approve invoices in the amount of $3,641,518.

 

It was moved by Mr. Raven, seconded by Ms. Probst and carried unanimously to approve the FY 2016-17 Consolidated Budget Revision.

 

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Ms. Campbell and carried unanimously to approve the Second Reading of Policy JGB – “School Wellness”. 

 

Upon recommendation from the school board attorney, Mr. Bob Hammonds, Policy JGCE - “Child Abuse” was tabled until a later date.

 

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Mr. Raven and carried unanimously to approve the Concordia Sentinel as the board’s official journal.

 

The top three candidates were chosen for the second round of interviews are:

 

1.)   Rodney Lloyd

2.)   Arlana Davis

3.)   Robert Whestly Shirley

 

Interviews will be held on Monday, June 12, 2017, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

 

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Mr. Bostic and carried unanimously for the board to enter into Executive Session at 6:35 p.m. to discuss the results of litigation entitled “Smith and United States v. Concordia Parish School Board”, Civil Action No. 65-CV-11577 on the docket of the United States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana.

 

It was moved by Mr. Raven, seconded by Mr. Bostic and carried unanimously to return to Regular Session at 7:00 p.m.

 

Upon the return to open session, Mr. Bob Hammonds provided information from the ruling returned by the judge in the aforementioned case.
