PROCEEDINGS OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF THE PARISH OF CONCORDIA, STATE OF LOUISIANA, TAKEN AT A SPECIAL MEETING HELD ON MONDAY, JUNE 12, 2017.

 

The School Board of the Parish of Concordia, State of Louisiana, met in Special Session at the Concordia Parish School Board office in Vidalia, Louisiana, on Monday, June 12, at 6:00 P.M.  The meeting was called to order by Mr. Raymond Riley, who after prayer and the Pledge, declared that the Board was ready for the transaction of business.

 

Members present were Mr. Warren Enterkin, Ms. Mary Campbell, Mr. Fred T. Butcher, Mr. Ronnie Bradford, Mr. Jeffery Goodman, Ms. Cheryl Probst, Mr. John Bostic, Mr. Rickey Raven and Mr. Raymond Riley, Sr.

 

It was moved by Mr. Raven, seconded by Mr. Bostic and carried unanimously to enter into Executive Session at 6:35 p.m. to Pursuant La.R.S.42:6.1 to interview the top three candidates for superintendent.

 

Candidates were interviewed in the following order:

 

Rodney Lloyd

Arlana Davis

Robert Whestly Shirley

 

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Ms. Campbell and carried unanimously to return to Regular Session at 8:50 p.m.

 

The board voted five to three, to name Robert Whestly Shirley as the new superintendent.

 

Mrs. Cheryl Probst could not participate in the voting process due to her relationship to one of the candidates.

 

Mr. Raymond Riley said the board would now begin to finalize Mr. Shirley’s contract.  The contract will be discussed and voted on.

 

Mr. Raymond Riley said the board could not give a contract that extended more than two years past the current board’s term, which ends in 2018.

 

Mr. Fred T. Butcher stated that the law only allows for a two or four year contract.
