PROCEEDINGS OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF THE PARISH OF CONCORDIA, STATE OF LOUISIANA, TAKEN AT A REGULAR MEETING HELD ON THURSDAY, AUGUST 10, 2017    

The School Board of the Parish of Concordia, State of Louisiana, met in Regular Session at the Concordia Parish School Board office in Vidalia, Louisiana, on Thursday, August 10, 2017, at 6:09 p.m.  The meeting was called to order by Mr. Raymond Riley, Sr. who after prayer and the Pledge, declared that the Board was ready for the transaction of business.

Members present were Mr. Warren Enterkin, Ms. Mary Campbell, Mr. Raymond Riley, Ms. Cheryl Probst, Mr. John Bostic, and Mr. Ricky Raven.

Board Member Mr. Fred T. Butcher arrived at 6:20 p.m.

Members absent were Mr. Ronnie Bradford and Mr. Jeffery Goodman.

Committee reports were presented.

It was moved by Mr. Raven, seconded by Mr. Bostic and carried unanimously to approve the minutes of July 6, 2017, special meeting, and July 13, 2017, regular meeting.

It was moved by Mr. Raven, seconded by Ms. Probst and carried unanimously to approve invoices for the month of July 2017 in the amount of $3,778,272.

It was moved by Mr. Raven, seconded by Ms. Probst and carried unanimously to allow Mr. Tom O’Neal to take the janitorial cleaning supply bids, janitorial paper bids, and the janitorial supply bids under advisement and be granted the authority to award to the lowest bidder that meets specifications.

Mr. O’Neal stated that paper was considered a Louisiana preference product.  It was moved by Mr. Bostic, seconded by Mr. Raven and carried unanimously to allow Mr. O’Neal take the bids under advisement and award to the lowest bidder that meets specifications.

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Ms. Campbell and carried unanimously to allow Mr. O’Neal to take the bids under advisement and be granted the authority to award to the lowest bidder that meets specifications.

It was moved by Mr. Raven, seconded by Ms. Probst and carried unanimously to approve the Louisiana Compliance Statement.

After discussion on the Pay Scale, it was decided that a committee consisting of Whest Shirley, Loretta Blankenstein, Cheryl Probst, Rhonda Moore, Tom O’Neal, and Fred Marsalis needs to come up with a pay scale for all certified and non-certified employees.

After a discussion on the expansion of the Concordia Parish Academy of Math, Science, and Technology due to the projected growing number of students attending, Mr. Riley stated to allow Mr. O’Neal and Mr. Bostic to take a look at the building.   

It was moved by Mr. Raven, seconded by Mr. Bostic and carried unanimously to add the following item, suggested by Mr. Butcher, to the Agenda:  Superintendent’s Contract.

Mr. Butcher wants the Superintendent’s Contract to reflect the following items:

Hospitalization for the Employee only shall be paid by the CPSB

Dental Insurance for the Employee only shall be paid by the CPSB

                          Life Insurance for the Employee only shall be paid by the CPSB

                          12 days of Sick Leave-equal to 1 per year

                          15 days of Vacation

Motion by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Mr. Raven and carried unanimously the items will be worded in the Superintendent’s Contract.
