PROCEEDINGS OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF THE PARISH OF CONCORDIA, STATE OF LOUISIANA, TAKEN AT A REGULAR MEETING HELD ON THURSDAY, OCTOBER 12, 2017

The School Board of the Parish of Concordia, State of Louisiana, met in Regular Session at the Concordia Parish School Board office in Vidalia, Louisiana, on Thursday, October 12, 2017, at 6:00 o’clock p.m.  The meeting was called to order by Mr. Raymond Riley who after prayer and the Pledge, declared that the Board was ready for the transaction of business.

Members present were Mr. Warren Enterkin, Ms. Mary Campbell, Mr. Fred Butcher, Ms. Cheryl Probst, Mr. Jeffery Goodman, Mr. John Bostic, Mr. Ricky Raven, and Mr. Raymond Riley.

Board Member Ronnie Bradford was absent.

Mr. Whest Shirley recognized the following students receiving the Sidney A. Murray Citizenship Awards in Grades 9-12:

It was moved by Mr. Enterkin, seconded by Ms. Probst and carried unanimously to approve the minutes of September 14, 2017.

It was moved by Ms. Probst, seconded by Mr. Raven and carried unanimously to approve invoices in the amount of $3,576,796 for the month of September.

It was moved by Mr. Raven, seconded by Mr. Bostic and carried unanimously to approve the Sales Tax Collection Agreement between Concordia Parish School System and Vidalia Riverfront Economic Development District.

It was moved by Mr. Enterkin, seconded by Ms. Probst and carried unanimously to approve the Sale/Dispose of Excess Moving Equipment (Van and John Deere Tractor).

It was moved by Mr. Raven, seconded by Mr. Bostic and carried unanimously to approve the First Reading of the following policies:

                    JS - Cf: JR                   Student Fees, Fines and Charges

                    JDA - Cf: GAMC           Corporal Punishment

                    JGCD                           Administration of Medication

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Mr. Bostic and carried unanimously to approve the Finance Committee’s recommendation for a salary increase for non-certified support staff.  There will be an increase of $500 in the base salary for support staff.  There will be a $700 supplement increase added to the current $500 November Sales Tax Supplement for all personnel that were hired on or before October 1, 2017, effective November 2017.  This shall be in effect until fiscal year 2018-2019.

It was moved by Mr. Raven, seconded by Ms. Probst and carried unanimously to approve the addition of “Street Between Ferriday High and the Stadium” to the Agenda.  It was moved by Ms. Probst, seconded by Ms. Campbell and carried unanimously to approve naming the street between Ferriday High and the stadium after Mr. Fred Butcher.
