PROCEEDINGS OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF THE PARISH OF CONCORDIA, STATE OF LOUISIANA, TAKEN AT A REGULAR MEETING HELD ON THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 8, 2018
The School Board of the Parish of Concordia, State of Louisiana, met in Regular Session at the Concordia Parish School Board office in Vidalia, Louisiana, on Thursday, February 8, 2018, at 6:00 o’clock p.m. The meeting was called to order by Mr. Raymond Riley who after prayer and the Pledge, declared that the Board was ready for the transaction of business.
Members present were Mr. Warren Enterkin, Ms. Mary Campbell, Mr. Fred Butcher, Ms. Cheryl Probst, Mr. Jeffery Goodman, Mr John Bostic, Mr. Ricky Raven, and Mr. Raymond Riley.
Member absent was Mr. Ronnie Bradford.
Mr. Whest Shirley recognized the following students receiving the Sidney A. Murray, Jr., Citizenship Award in Grades 3-5:

Mr. Whest Shirley recognized the following 2018 Student of the Year school/district winners:

Takera Jhar’Nae Spurs Grade 8 School and District Winner Ferriday Junior High
Committee reports were presented. The Finance Committee discussed invoices and other matters of business. The Educational/Personnel Policy Committee discussed Ridgecrest School, Central Office, Pupil Progression, and annual leave for twelve-month employees. The Buildings and Grounds Committee discussed work orders, projects, and notes from the other committee meetings.
It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Ms. Campbell and carried to approve the minutes of January 11, 2018.
It was moved by Mr. Enterkin, seconded by Mr. Bostic and carried to approve invoices in the amount of $5,058,745 for the month of January.
Mr. Butcher asked to add Executive Session to the Agenda to discuss Personnel Issues. It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Mr. Goodman and carried to add Executive Session to the Agenda.
It was moved by Mr. Raven, seconded by Mr. Bostic and carried to approve the Second Reading of the following policies. Upon discussion, Mr. Raven amended his motion to approve the Second Reading of all of the Policies except item number 9 - GBC Recruitment until further investigation. Motion was seconded by Mr. Bostic and carried.

In accordance with approved agenda item, the Board entered into Executive Session at 6:30 p.m.
It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Mr. Bostic and carried to return to regular session at 7:30 p.m. Mr. Riley announced that the matter discussed in Executive Session concerned general compensation of retiring personnel.
It was moved by Mr. Enterkin, seconded by Mr. Raven and carried to approve the 2017-2018 Pupil Progression Plan.

SRCL, circle grant, Striving Readers Comprehensive Literacy Program awarded to Concordia Parish in the amount of $512,186. Thanks to Dr. Rhonda Wilson and Mrs. Cindy Smith.
Honors banquet has been set for April 11th at Vidalia Conference and Convention Center at 6:00.
Practice AP exams will begin later this month for our high school students.
Monterey High School Quiz Bowl finished 7th out of 70 teams today in West Monroe.
There is a new program at Ferriday High School, JAG, which we have at FJHS and VJHS. Keith Morgan will be facilitating that program.
LSBA convention will be February 28th. We will have art work that will be on display - Camryn Poole 10th grade at MHS, and Avah Videgaray 8th grade VJHS.
