PROCEEDINGS OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF THE PARISH OF CONCORDIA, STATE OF LOUISIANA, TAKEN AT A REGULAR MEETING HELD ON THURSDAY, JUNE 14, 2018

 

The School Board of the Parish of Concordia, State of Louisiana, met in Regular Session at the Concordia Parish School Board office in Vidalia, Louisiana, on Thursday, June 14, 2018, at 6:00 o’clock p.m. The meeting was called to order by Dr. Raymond Riley, who after prayer and the Pledge, declared that the Board was ready for the transaction of business.

 

Members present were Mr. Warren Enterkin, Ms. Mary Campbell, Mr. Fred Butcher, Mrs. Cheryl Probst, Mr. Jeffery Goodman, Mr. John Bostic, Mr. Ricky Raven, and Dr. Raymond Riley.

 

Board Member absent was Carolyn Bradford.

 

Committee Reports were presented.  Mr. Butcher of the Finance Committee stated that invoices, football fields, and gym floors were discussed.

 

Ms. Campbell of the Educational/Personnel Policy Committee stated that appointments, retirement, leaves, resignations, annual leave, Title I Supervisor job description, CPA, and Durham Contract were discussed.

 

Dr. Riley of the Buildings and Grounds Committee stated that football fields were discussed.

 

Mr. Butcher made a motion to add “Estimate for Gym Floors” to the Agenda.  Motion was seconded by Mrs. Probst and carried to approve adding “Estimate for Gym Floors” to the Agenda.

 

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Ms. Campbell and carried to approve the minutes of May 10, 2018.

 

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Mr. Bostic and carried to approve invoices in the amount of $4,227,113 for the month of May 2018.

 

After a brief discussion on the FY 2017-18 Consolidated Budget Revision, Mr. O’Neal stated that the overall projected budget variances as being 1% on revenues and 2.9% on disbursements.  It was moved by Mr. Raven, seconded by Mr. Bostic and carried to approve the FY 2017-18 Consolidated Budget Revision.

 

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Mr. Bostic and carried to approve the Concordia Sentinel as the Board’s official journal.

 

After a brief discussion concerning the Concordia Parish Academy of Math, Science, & Technology, it was decided that the CPA Committee will meet at the Concordia Education Center on Monday, June 18, at 10:00 a.m. to look over the building to see if swapping schools would be feasible.

 

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Mrs. Probst and carried to approve the Title I Job Description.

 

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Ms. Campbell and carried to approve the first reading of the following policies:

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Ms. Campbell and carried to allow Mr. Henderson to work with Mr. O’Neal and Mr. Shirley to have the gym floors refinished at FHS, FJH, VHS, and MHS.
