PROCEEDINGS OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF THE PARISH OF CONCORDIA, STATE OF LOUISIANA, TAKEN AT A REGULAR MEETING HELD ON THURSDAY, DECEMBER 13, 2018

 

The School Board of the Parish of Concordia, State of Louisiana, met in Regular Session at the Concordia Parish School Board office in Vidalia, Louisiana, on Thursday, December 13, 2018, at 6:00 o’clock p.m. The meeting was called to order by Dr. Raymond Riley, who, after prayer and the Pledge, declared that the Board was ready for the transaction of business.

 

Members present were Ms. Mary Campbell, Mr. Fred Butcher, Mrs. Cheryl Probst, Mr. Ricky Raven, and Dr. Raymond Riley.

 

Board Members absent were Mr. Warren Enterkin, Mrs. Carolyn Bradford, Mr. Jeffery Goodman, and Mr. John Bostic.

 

Mrs. Mary Huhn introduced her Job Training Program Students.  Each student stated their name, school, and what treat they made for the Outgoing Board Members’ Reception.

Tasia Johnson was recognized for her winning artwork for the Legislative Youth Advisory Council for World Peace Day.  Her artwork was displayed in Memorial Hall in the Louisiana State Capitol.

Committee Reports were presented.  Ms. Campbell of the Educational/Personnel Policy Committee stated that Ridgecrest school and the Central Office building were discussed.  Mr. Butcher of the Finance Committee stated that the financial statements, financial software, and school athletic game tickets were discussed.  Dr. Riley of the Buildings and Grounds Committee stated that they discussed some of the same items as the other Committees plus work orders, Durham Bus Contract, and bus discipline.

 

It was moved by Mrs. Probst, seconded by Mr. Raven and carried to approve the minutes of November 8, 2018.

 

It was moved by Mr. Raven, seconded by Mrs. Probst and carried to approve invoices in the amount of $5,135,800 for the month of November 2018.

 

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Ms. Campbell and carried to approve the second reading of the following policies:

            JR       Student Privacy and Education Records

 

It was moved by Ms. Campbell, seconded by Mr. Raven and carried to approve the first reading of the following policies:

Mr. Shirley made the following announcements:

 

Congratulations to the FHS and VHS football teams.   Both played in a quarter-final contest.  This is the first time in parish history.  Congratulations to the FHS Trojans for making it to the semi-finals.

 

Tomorrow, December 14, the Concordia Parish School Board will have a Christmas luncheon at noon.  Board Members are invited.

 

Schools will dismiss next Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. and will resume on January 7, 2019.

 

Concordia Parish School Board will be open through Friday, December 18.
