PROCEEDINGS OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF THE PARISH OF CONCORDIA, STATE OF LOUISIANA, TAKEN AT A REGULAR MEETING HELD ON THURSDAY, MARCH 14, 2019
The School Board of the Parish of Concordia, State of Louisiana, met in Regular Session at the Concordia Parish School Board office in Vidalia, Louisiana, on Thursday, March 14, 2019, at 6:00 o’clock p.m. The meeting was called to order by Dr. Raymond Riley who after prayer and the Pledge, declared that the Board was ready for the transaction of business.
Members present were Mr. Warren Enterkin, Mrs. Dorothy Parker, Mr. Fred Butcher, Mr. Derrick Carson, Mr. John Bostic, Ms. Angela Hayes, Mrs. Lisette Forman, Mr. Ricky Raven, and Dr. Raymond Riley.
The Board recognized the following students receiving the Sidney A. Murray, Jr., Citizenship Awards in Grades Pre-K – 2:

Committee Reports were presented. Mr. Raven, Educational/Personnel Policy Committee, indicated that building plans for the Concordia Parish Academy, compensation for principals, and a parish-wide project wish list were all discussed. Mr. Butcher, Finance Committee, indicated that the committee had reviewed the financial statements for the previous month and discussed the various components of the newly proposed accounting software, including staff purchasing procedures. Mr. Carson, Buildings and Grounds Committee, indicated that the committee reviewed completed work orders and the previous month’s maintenance budget. Other items of discussion included the current student transportation contract, support employees pay schedules, and roof repairs at the Ferriday High School dressing room and the Concordia Education Center.
It was moved by Mr. Raven, seconded by Mr. Butcher and carried to approve the minutes of the Special Meeting held on February 12, 2019, and the Regular Meeting held on February 21, 2019.
It was moved by Mr. Raven, seconded by Mr. Butcher and carried to approve invoices in the amount of $3,870,722 for the month of February 2019.
After a brief discussion, it was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Mrs. Parker and carried to approve the recommendation of Mr. O’Neal to award the RFP for the Accounting Software for the Business Office to Weidenhammer Systems Corporation for their web-based educational resource planning system called “Alio”.
It was moved by Mr. Raven, seconded by Mr. Enterkin and carried to approve the Second Reading of the following policies:

GBD Employment of Personnel
GBDA Employment of Retired Personnel
GBRIB Sick Leave
GBRIC Maternity and Adoptive Leave
JBCC Student Assignment
JCED Student Sexual Harassment
President Riley removed Item VI. C. FY 2019-2020 School Calendar and D. 2019-2020 12-Month Employee Calendar from the Agenda until the Regular Board Meeting on April 11, 2019.

ACT testing is going on this week.
Seepage water is a problem across the parish due to flooding-especially at VJH and VLE.
In an effort to insure the district’s safety and protection, he will be meeting Monday with all the pertinent players to discuss the system’s flood plans. As applicable, those plans used in the floods of 2011 will be revisited and updated as necessary.
Concordia Parish Academy Lottery will be Friday, March 15, at 9:00 a.m. at the CPSB.
Supplement checks will be issued with regular checks on March 22. ($525 for certified and $250 for support)
