PROCEEDINGS OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF THE PARISH OF CONCORDIA, STATE OF LOUISIANA, TAKEN AT A PUBLIC HEARING HELD ON THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, 2019

 

 

The School Board of the Parish of Concordia, State of Louisiana, met in a Public Hearing Session at the Concordia Parish School Board office in Vidalia, Louisiana, on Thursday, September 12, 2019, at 6:00 o’clock p.m. The meeting was called to order by Dr. Raymond Riley who, after prayer and the Pledge, declared that the Board was ready for the transaction of business.

 

Mr. O’Neal, Business Director, gave members of the Board and the General Public a brief overview of the Consolidated Budget for Fiscal Year 2019-2020. He indicated that the Consolidated Budget reflected revenues in the amount of $51,728,087 expenditures in the amount of $54,914,950 and a projected deficiency in the amount of $3,186,863.

 

After comments and questions, it was moved by Mr. Raven, seconded by Mr. Bostic and carried to adjourn the public hearing at 6:31 p.m.

 

 

PROCEEDINGS OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF THE PARISH OF CONCORDIA, STATE OF LOUISIANA, TAKEN AT A REGULAR MEETING HELD ON THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, 2019

 

The School Board of the Parish of Concordia, State of Louisiana, met in Regular Session at the Concordia Parish School Board office in Vidalia, Louisiana, on Thursday, September 12, 2019, immediately following the public hearing. The meeting was called to order by Dr. Raymond Riley.

 

Members present were Mr. Warren Enterkin, Ms. Dorothy Parker, Mr. Fred Butcher, Mr. Derrick Carson, Mr. John Bostic, Mr. Angela Hayes, Ms. Lisette Forman, Mr. Ricky Raven, and Dr. Raymond Riley.

 

Committee Reports were presented.

 

It was moved by Mr. Bostic, seconded by Ms. Parker and carried to approve the minutes of the Regular Meeting held on August 8, 2019.

 

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Mr. Bostic and carried to approve the financial report and invoices for the month of August 2019.

 

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Mr. Carson and carried to approve the Consolidated Budget for fiscal year 2019-2020 with the addition of kick plates at both Vidalia High and Ferriday High football stadiums, an additional parking lot at Ferriday Jr. High gym, and a roof for Ferriday High School football stadium and dressing rooms.

 

It was moved by Mr. Raven, seconded by Mr. Bostic and carried to approve the first reading of the following policies:

 

IDDFA Special Education Advisory Council

IDDFB Special Education Section 504

IDDFC Service Animals in Schools

JGCF Behavioral Health Services for Students

 

The Building and Grounds committee met with three architects concerning the new construction of the Monterey High School gymnasium. It was moved by Mr. Bostic, seconded by Mr. Carson to engage the services of McElroy Architectural Firm out of Jackson, MS for the project. The motion carried unanimously on a roll call vote.

It was moved by Mr. Raven, seconded by Mr. Enterkin and carried to approve to enter in to Executive Session at 7:11 pm to discuss the superintendent's evaluation results.

 

It was moved by Mr. Raven, seconded by Mr. Bostic and carried to return to Regular Session at 7:40 pm.

 

Dr. Riley stated that the board will hold a special board meeting on Monday, September 23, 2019 at 6 pm to discuss the superintendent's contract.

·        Career Fair for all Juniors and Seniors next Friday, September 20 at the Community Room on Hwy 15.

·        Thursday, September 26, FHS has been chosen as the school of the month. KNOE TV 8 will be on campus from 5:00am to 7:00am!
