PROCEEDINGS OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF THE PARISH OF CONCORDIA, STATE OF LOUISIANA, TAKEN AT A REGULAR MEETING HELD ON THURSDAY, DECEMBER 12, 2019

The School Board of the Parish of Concordia, State of Louisiana, met in Regular Session at the Concordia Parish School Board office in Vidalia, Louisiana, on Thursday, December 12, 2019, at 6:00 o’clock p.m. The meeting was called to order by Dr. Raymond Riley, who, after prayer and the Pledge, declared that the Board was ready for the transaction of business.

Members present were Mr. Warren Enterkin, Mr. Derrick Carson, Ms. Angela Hayes, Mr. Ricky Raven, and Dr. Raymond Riley.

Members absent were Mrs. Dorothy Parker, Mr. John Bostic, and Mrs. Lisette Forman.

Board Member Fred Butcher entered at 6:05 p.m.

Committee Reports were presented.

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Mr. Carson and carried to approve the minutes of the Regular Meeting held on November 14, 2019.

It was moved by Mr. Raven, seconded by Mr. Enterkin and carried to approve invoices in the amount of $6,406,710 for the month of November 2019.

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Mr. Enterkin and carried to allow Mr. O’Neal to accept the Right of Way request to cross Section 16, Township 1 North.

It was moved by Mr. Raven, seconded by Mr. Butcher and carried to accept the Medical Flex Plan.

It was moved by Mr. Raven, seconded by Mr. Carson and carried to approve the Sales Tax Collection Agreement with the Town of Tullos.

It was moved by Mr. Enterkin, seconded by Mr. Raven and carried to approve the reading of policy EBBB School and Student Safety that was tabled on November 14, 2019.

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Mr. Enterkin and carried to approve the Finance Committee’s recommendation to pay for 4 Charter Buses for the 2019-2020 school year for the State Championship for FHS.  Buses are for the transportation of the team, cheerleaders, and band students.                         

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Mr. Carson and carried to add State Championship Funding to the Agenda.

It was moved by Mr. Butcher, seconded by Ms. Hayes and carried for the Board to pay for the number of Charter Buses as determined by the size of the team, the band, and any other participants that are participating throughout the school year for playoffs.

It was moved by Mr. Carson, seconded by Mr. Butcher and carried to suspend the policy that we have on hand now to pay $1,500 towards buses for state championship games.

Mr. Shirley made the following announcements:

Notice is hereby given that at its meeting to be held on Thursday, January 9, 2020, at 6:00 p.m. at its regular meeting place, the Central Administration Facility, 4358 Hwy. 84 West, Vidalia, Louisiana, the Parish School Board of the Parish of Concordia, State of Louisiana, plans to consider adopting a resolution ordering and calling an election to be held in the Parish of Concordia to authorize the renewal of a sales and use tax.  If you will be attending the LSBA February 17-18, please let Ms. Gail know.  CPSB employees will get their bonus checks on December 13 and their regular checks on December 20, 2019.  Mid-term exams will begin next week.  Christmas holidays are December 20-January 5, 2020.  Board Members with December birthdays are John Bostic-5th, Fred Butcher-14th, and Angela Hayes-22nd.
