Finance Committee Meeting Notes

Items Discussed:
1. Review of Financial Statements for January
o The committee reviewed and discussed the financial statements for the month of January.
2. Monterey School Drainage Project Update
o The project is nearing completion.
3. Ferriday High School Project & Right-of-Way
o Updates on the project were shared.
o Right-of-way concerns were discussed.
4. Entergy Representatives Meeting
o Representatives from Entergy will be attending an upcoming meeting.

1. Football Field Maintenance Plan
· Mrs. Bachus developed a delegation of responsibility plan but requires final input from professional entities responsible for grass coding and field construction.
· Mr. Art Goode recommended restricting access to the field to prevent damage.
· The junior high should coordinate their home games to align with high school away games whenever possible.
· All practices should be relocated to an alternative location to preserve the field.
· Mr. Henderson is collaborating with Mr. Wilson to explore temporary lighting solutions for the football field.
· Discussion included the possibility of disking the practice field and requesting the recreation department to install fencing.
2. Parking Lot at Vidalia Junior High & Pickup Area Behind Vidalia Lower Elementary
· Mr. Henderson will contact the Police Jury for assistance, as previous alternative solutions have not been effective in sustaining the weather conditions.
3. Ferriday High School Beautification
· A brief discussion was held regarding beautification efforts.
· The Superintendent confirmed that the electrical component is already on the agenda for review.
4. Baseball and Softball Facilities at Ferriday High School
· FHS now has baseball and softball teams but lacks a proper facility for home games.
· Key needs identified:
○ Concession stand
○ Field conditions
o Lighting
○ Mr. Henderson will seek support from the recreation department to determine which aspects they can assist with.
5. Ferriday Upper Elementary Hallway Maintenance
○ Paint is peeling in the hallways, despite a recent repainting.
○ Mr. Henderson, Maintenance Supervisor, noted that the incorrect type of paint was previously used.
6. Non-Working District Vehicles
○ In a previous meeting, the Superintendent was asked to provide a list of all non-working vehicles within the district. This information was presented to the committee.
○ Mr. Carson suggested reaching out to Tom O’Neal for guidance on next steps and adding the matter to the agenda for board action.
