PROCEEDINGS OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF THE PARISH OF CONCORDIA, STATE OF LOUISIANA TAKEN AT A COMMITTEE MEETING HELD ON TUESDAY, MARCH 10, 1992.
The School Board of the Parish of Concordia, State of Louisiana, met in committee at the Concordia Parish School Board Office in Vidalia, Louisiana on Tuesday, March 10, 1992, at five-thirty (5:30) o'clock p.m.
Members present were Honorable J.W. Calhoun, President; Mrs. Marie Cowan; Mr. Jerry King; Mr. Manson Nelson; Mrs. Polly Miley; Mr. Charles Partridge; and Mr. Walter Stampley.
Members absent: Rev. Johnnie Brown and Mrs. Georgia Washington.
The School Board of the Parish of Concordia was duly convened by Honorable J.W. Calhoun, President, who declared that the board after prayer led by Mr. Manson Nelson and the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, was ready for the transaction of business.
Mr. Tom O'Neal presented the financial report and answered questions from board members.
Mr. O'Neal presented the Sales Tax (80%) Fund report and informed the board of the change of fund transfer procedure. A minimum of $75, 000 will be retained in the fund and any excess will be transferred to General Fund.
Mrs. Washington arrived at five-fifty (5:50) o'clock p.m.
Superintendent Lee asked the board to establish Wednesday, March 25, 1992 as payday since the schools will be out on Spring Break on the regular March payday. Employees may either come by the Central Office and pick up paychecks or leave an envelope with the payroll bookkeeper for mailing. It was discussed to name Friday, March 20, 1992 as an alternative date.
Superintendent Lee discussed the resolution on unemployment compensation with the board.
Superintendent Lee presented his contract goals and answered questions from board members. Mr. Nelson expressed his appreciation to Superintendent Lee for going to various community functions and speaking on his goals and objectives.
Superintendent Lee discussed the personnel list and answered questions from board members.
Superintendent Lee made two announcements:
1. The Concordia Parish Police Jury changed its meeting to discuss reapportionment to Tuesday, March 17, 1992, which would conflict with the School Board meeting. He asked whether the board would like to change its meeting so School Board members could attend the Police Jury meeting. After discussion it was decided that the School Board would meet at its regular time.
2. There will be no exemptions from the parishwide meeting to be held on March 20, 1992 at 2:00 p.m. However, there are three bus drivers in the lower portion of the parish who will not be able to finish routes in time to attend and they will be exempted.
The meeting was adjourned at (6:25) six twenty-five o'clock p.m.
