PROCEEDINGS OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF THE PARISH OF CONCORDIA, STATE OF LOUISIANA, TAKEN AT A COMMITTEE MEETING HELD ON TUESDAY, JULY 14, 1992.

 

The School Board of the Parish of Concordia, State of Louisiana, met in committee at the Concordia Parish School Board Office in Vidalia, Louisiana on Tuesday, July 14, 1992 at five-thirty (5:30) o'clock p.m.  The meeting was called to order by the Honorable J.W. Calhoun, President, who declared that the board after prayer led by Mrs. Marie Cowan and the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, was ready for the transaction of business.

 

Members present were Honorable J.W. Calhoun; Mrs. Marie Cowan; Mr. Jerry King; Mrs. Polly Miley; Mr. Manson Nelson; Mr. Charles Partridge; Mr. Walter Stampley; and Mrs. Georgia Washington.

 

Member absent:  Rev. Johnnie Brown

 

Mr. Tom O'Neal, Director of Business Affairs, discussed the financial report and answered financial questions.

 

Mr. H.L. Irvin, Jr., Supervisor of Supportive Services, reported on electrical damage to VLE and VJH during a recent storm. The approximate cost to repair damage was $3,500.

 

Mr. Irvin also discussed the School Bus Operators Handbook and job descriptions needed for bus operators and custodians. 

 

After distributing a printed graph, Mr. Irvin discussed the annual maintenance man-hours report.

 

Superintendent Lee discussed the sales tax proposition and distributed handouts. 

 

Mr. O'Neal reminded the board of lease property bids on Airport Road taken under advisement and inquired whether the board wanted to re-bid. 

 

Dr. Lester Peterman, Supervisor of Supportive Services, discussed computer labs to be installed under 8g grant at Vidalia Junior High.  Chapter II monies will pay for labs at Vidalia Upper Elementary and Ferriday Upper Elementary.

 

Superintendent Lee discussed the Pupil Progression Plan and asked board members to sign a tentative plan to expedite state approval.

 

The meeting was adjourned at six twenty (6:20) o'clock p.m.
