PROCEEDINGS OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF THE PARISH OF CONCORDIA, STATE OF LOUISIANA, TAKEN AT THE REGULAR MEETING HELD ON TUESDAY, MAY 4, 1993.
The School Board of the Parish of Concordia, State of Louisiana, met in regular session at the Concordia Parish School Board Office in Vidalia, Louisiana, on Tuesday, May 4, 1993, at five-thirty (5:30) o'clock p.m. The meeting was called to order by the Honorable J.W. Calhoun, President, who declared that the Board, after prayer led by Mrs. Georgia Washington and the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, was ready for the transaction of business.
Members present were Honorable J.W. Calhoun; Rev. Johnnie Brown; Mrs. Marie Cowan; Mr. Jerry King; Mrs. Polly Miley; Mr. Manson Nelson; Mr. Charles Partridge; Mr. Walter Stampley; and Mrs. Georgia Washington.
Members absent: None
It was moved by Mr. Partridge, seconded by Mr. Nelson and carried unanimously to approve invoices totaling $1, 408,714.12.
It was moved by Mr. Partridge, seconded by Mrs. Cowan and carried unanimously to approve minutes from the April 6 and April 20, 1993 board meetings.

It was moved by Mr. Partridge, seconded by Mr. King and carried unanimously to proclaim May 4, 1993 as National Teacher Day.
It was moved by Mr. Partridge, seconded by Mr. King and carried unanimously to proclaim May 2-8, 1993 as Teacher Appreciation Week.
It was moved by Mrs. Cowan, seconded by Mrs. Washington and carried unanimously to move into Executive Session at six (6:00) o'clock p.m.
It was moved by Mrs. Washington, seconded by Mrs. Cowan and carried unanimously to return to Open Session at seven ten (7:10) o'clock p.m.
Superintendent Lee reported that four personnel matters had been discussed for information only and no action was required.
It was moved by Mrs. Miley, seconded by Mr. Stampley and carried unanimously to approve the Chapter I Project Proposal.
It was moved by Mrs. Washington, seconded by Rev. Brown and carried unanimously to open bids on a Chapter I portable building for use as a parent center at Vidalia Lower Elementary. One bid was received, from Ahern in two parts; $26, 620 with cabinets and $15, 495 without cabinets. Mr. Huhn, Chapter I Director and the business department representatives were asked to peruse the bid and check specifications. After doing so, it was recommended that the alternate bid of $15, 495 ( without cabinets) be accepted. It was moved by Mr. Stampley, seconded by Rev. Brown and carried unanimously to accept the alternate bid of $15, 495.
It was moved by Mr. Nelson, seconded by Rev. Brown and carried unanimously to approve the LEA Application for Special Education.
It was moved by Mr. Stampley, seconded by Mr. Partridge and carried unanimously to approve advertising for milk, bread, juice and exterminating services for School Food Services.
It was moved by Mr. Nelson, seconded by Mrs. Washington and carried unanimously to approve a change in policy GBA for budget purposes (see attached).
It was moved by Mr. Nelson, seconded by Mrs. Washington to hire two (2) summer painters to work from the end of the JTPA workers service to finish out the summer.
It was moved by Mr. Stampley, seconded by Mrs. Washington and carried unanimously to
