PROCEEDINGS OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF THE PARISH OF CONCORDIA, STATE OF LOUISIANA, TAKEN AT A SPECIAL MEETING HELD ON TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, 1995.

 

The School Board of the Parish of Concordia, State of Louisiana, met in special session at the Concordia Parish School Board Office, in Vidalia, Louisiana, on Tuesday, September 12, 1995, at five-thirty (5:30) o'clock p.m.  the meeting was called to order by the Honorable Manson E. Nelson, Sr., President, who declared that the Board, after prayer by Mrs. Marie Cowan, and the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, was ready for the transaction of business.

 

Members present were the Honorable Manson E. Nelson, Sr., Mr. Arthur A. Arnold, Mr. Eddie L. Coleman, Sr., Mrs. Marie Cowan, Mrs. Shirley Crnkovic, Mr. Charles Partridge, Mr. Lynn White, and Mr. Sam Williams, Jr.

 

Members absent:          Mrs. Georgia Washington.

 

President Nelson requested public comments regarding the proposed budget for Fiscal Year 1996.  Mr. Mike Deshotels, Executive Director of the Louisiana Association of Educators, spoke regarding salaries for employees and whether the Board was doing everything it could to improve salaries of its employees, especially with respect to sales tax supplements.  Mr. Nelson called for other comments; however, there was no other response.

 

Mr. Tom O'Neal, Director of Business Affairs, at Superintendent Lee's request, clarified the kinds of costs included in the General Administration portion of the budget.  Mr. O'Neal answered other questions by Superintendent Lee and Board members.

 

President Nelson stated that if there were no other questions, the floor was open for a motion in regard to the budget.  It was moved by Mr. Williams, seconded by Mr. Coleman and carried unanimously to approve the FY96 budget.

 

It was moved by Mr. Partridge, seconded by Mrs. Crnkovic and carried to adjourn at 6:44 p.m.
