PROCEEDINGS OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF THE PARISH OF CONCORDIA, STATE OF LOUISIANA, TAKEN AT A SPECIAL MEETING HELD ON TUESDAY, JUNE 18, 1996.

 

The School Board of the Parish of Concordia, State of Louisiana, met in special session at the Concordia Parish School Board Office, in Vidalia, Louisiana, on Tuesday, June 18, 1996, at five-thirty (5:30) o'clock p.m.  The meeting was called to order by the Honorable Ernest Lynn White, President, who declared that the Board, after prayer by Mrs. Marie Cowan, and the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, was ready for the transaction of business.

 

Members present were the Honorable Ernest Lynn White, Mr. Eddie L. Coleman, Sr., Mrs. Marie Cowan, Mr. Mike Grantham, Mrs. Polly Miley, Sr., Mr. Charles Partridge, and Mrs. Georgia Washington.

 

Mr. Manson E. Nelson, Sr., and Mr. Sam Williams, Jr., were absent.

 

President White stated that the special meeting was called for the purpose of adopting a Budget Revision for FY96.  Superintendent Lee commented that the budget revision being proposed featured some of the most encouraging fund balances of this administration.

 

Mr. Sam Williams, Jr., arrived at 5:35 p.m.

 

Mr. Tom O'Neal, Director of Business Affairs, reviewed the various funds and pointed out the proposed revisions in individual budget items.  He provided an overview of some of the accomplishments during the 1995-96 school year, including increased technology in the classrooms, an additional driver's education car, new activity buses, and employee salary increases.

 

Following discussion, it was moved by Mr. Partridge, seconded by Mr. Williams and carried 7-1, with Mr. Grantham voting no, to approve the FY96 Budget Revision as presented.

 

On a motion by Mr. Partridge and second by Mrs. Cowan, it was carried to adjourn the meeting at 6:05 p.m.
