PROCEEDINGS OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF THE PARISH OF CONCORDIA, STATE OF LOUISIANA, TAKEN AT A REGULAR MEETING HELD ON TUESDAY, JUNE 3, 1997.
The School Board of the Parish of Concordia, State of Louisiana, met in regular session at the Concordia Parish School Board Office, in Vidalia, Louisiana, on Tuesday, June 3, 1997, at five-thirty (5:30) o'clock p.m. The meeting was called to order by the Honorable Ernest Lynn White, President, who declared that the Board, after prayer by Superintendent James Lee and the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, was ready for the transaction of business.
Members present were the Honorable Ernest Lynn White, Mr. Eddie L. Coleman, Sr., Mrs. Marie Cowan, Mr. Mike Grantham, Mr. Charles Partridge, Mr. Ricky Raven, Mrs. Georgia Washington and Mr. Sam Williams, Jr. Absent was Mr. Manson E, Nelson, Sr.
Superintendent Lee reported on the award ceremony held by the Louisiana Department of
Education to recognize Louisiana Hydroelectric Partnership as one of seven Distinguished
Partners in Education in the state. A videotape prepared locally for the ceremony was played.
Mr. Ralph Laukhuff, Executive Director of Louisiana Hydroelectric, made comments.
Superintendent Lee presented plaques recognizing their years of service with Concordia Parish
Schools to the following retirees:

Mr. Paul Glynn, MHS track coach, recognized the MHS Track Teams and the individual team members who placed at the State High School Track Meet:
Chad Barfoot 5th Place, High Jump; 5th Place, Discus
Meagan McFarland State Champion, High Jump
Ashley Smalling 4th Place, Javelin
Mr. Glynn also recognized the moon buggy team members for their participation in NASA's national moon buggy race. The teams placed third and fifth out of twenty-two teams, including some college teams. Team members were:

Jessica Crum, Tanisha Evens, Patrick Ford, Third Place

Dr. Pete Peterman, Assistant Superintendent, recognized Valedictorians and Salutatorians from each high school. Students were presented a framed certificate and will receive savings bonds in the amount of $200 for valedictorians and $100 for Salutatorians.

It was moved by Mr. Partridge, seconded by Mr. Williams and carried unanimously to approve minutes of May 6 and May 20, 1997.
It was moved by Mr. Partridge, seconded by Mrs. Washington and carried unanimously to approve invoices in the amount of $1,579,000.70.
It was moved by Mr. Coleman, seconded by Mrs. Cowan and carried 6-2, with Mr. Grantham and Mr. Partridge voting no, to go into Executive Session at 6:20 p.m. to address personnel matters.
It was moved by Mr. Coleman, seconded by Mrs. Cowan and carried unanimously to return to Open Session at 7:10 p.m. President White reported that while in Executive Session, the Board had discussed personnel matters.
It was moved by Mr. Partridge, seconded by Mr. Coleman and carried unanimously to approve revisions to the Personnel Evaluation Program Manual.
It was moved by Mr. Williams, seconded by Mrs. Cowan and carried to advertise vacant bus routes.
It was moved by Mrs. Cowan, seconded by Mrs. Washington and carried unanimously to advertise for a school nurse.
It was moved by Mr. Coleman, seconded by Mr. Williams and carried unanimously to approve the Consolidated Programs Application for 1997-98.
Superintendent Lee made the following administrative appointment recommendations:
Principal, MHS Neeva Sibley to be transferred from FHS to MHS
Principal, FJH John Bostic, Interim Principal, 1997-98
Principal, FLE Rosa Demby, Interim Principal, 1997-98
It was moved by Mr. Coleman, seconded by Mrs. Washington and carried 7-1, with Mr. Raven voting no to approve the superintendent's recommendations.
It was moved by Mr. Partridge, seconded by Mr. Coleman and carried unanimously to approve the following personnel items:
