PROCEEDINGS OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF THE PARISH OF CONCORDIA,
STATE OF LOUISIANA, TAKEN AT A PUBLIC HEARING HELD ON TUESDAY, AUGUST 26, 1997.
The School Board of the Parish of Concordia, State of Louisiana, met in Public Hearing at the Concordia Parish School Board Office, in Vidalia, Louisiana, on Tuesday, August 26, 1997, at five-thirty (5:30) o'clock p.m. The meeting was called to order by the Honorable Ernest Lynn White, President, who declared that the Board, after prayer by Superintendent James E. Lee and the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, was ready for discussion of the FY98 Budget.
Members present were the Honorable Ernest Lynn White, Mr. Eddie L. Coleman, Sr., Mrs. Marie Cowan, Mr. Manson E. Nelson, Sr., Mr. Charles Partridge, Mr. Ricky Raven, Mrs. Georgia Washington and Mr. Sam Williams, Jr. Mr. Mike Grantham was absent.
Mr. Tom O'Neal, Director of Business Affairs, presented the FY98 Budget and commented on the effect of student count on the budgeted figures. He reminded the Board that MFP funding is not finalized by the state until January of each fiscal year; therefore, revenues from the state MFP based on October 1, 1997, student count would not be fully known until January 1998.
Mr. Grantham arrived at 5:41 p.m.
Mr. O'Neal answered questions regarding specific funds. Superintendent Lee stated that the goal is to rebuild the Insurance Fund to $500,000 by June 30, 1999, Mr. O'Neal reviewed the history of the Insurance Fund which was set up originally as a self-insurance fund; however, currently the Board does have insurance based on replacement values systemwide. He stated that an amount would be set aside each month to rebuild the fund.
There was discussion regarding the funds set aside for facilities and equipment. Mr. Irvin reported that panic hardware would have to be replaced on exit doors at each facility, and Mr. O'Neal reported that the FY98 Budget included funds for that purpose.
President White declared the meeting adjourned at 6:35 p.m.

The School Board of the Parish of Concordia, State of Louisiana, met in special session at the Concordia Parish School Board Office, in Vidalia, Louisiana, on Tuesday, August 26, 1997, at 6:35 p.m. The meeting was called to order by the Honorable Ernest Lynn White, President, who declared that the Board was ready for the transaction of business.
