PROCEEDINGS OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF THE PARISH OF CONCORDIA, STATE OF LOUISIANA, TAKEN AT A SPECIAL MEETING HELD ON THURSDAY, JUNE 10, 1999

 

The School Board of the Parish of Concordia, State of Louisiana, met in special session at the Concordia Parish School Board Office, in Vidalia, Louisiana, on Thursday, June 10, 1999, at five-thirty (5:30) o'clock p.m.  The meeting was called to order by the Honorable Mike Grantham, President, who declared that the Board, after prayer by Dr. Peterman, and the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, was ready for the transaction of business.

 

Members present were the Honorable Mike Grantham, Mr. Darrell Crofford, Mr. Eddie L. Coleman, Sr., Mr. Don Joseph, Rev. Johnnie Brown, Mrs. Mary Campbell, Mr. Ricky Raven and Mrs. Martha Rabb.

 

Member absent was Mr. Ernest Lynn White.

 

Mr. Grantham announced that Superintendent Lee was hospitalized.  He requested that the board members keep the Superintendent in their prayers. 

 

It was moved by Rev. Brown, seconded by Mr. Raven and carried to go into executive session at 5:35 p.m.

 

It was moved by Rev. Brown, seconded by Mrs. Rabb and carried to return to regular session at 6:20 p.m.

 

Mr. Grantham requested that the Board add the item Search Committee Appointment to the Agenda.

 

It was moved by Mr. Crofford, seconded by Mrs. Rabb and carried to add Selection of Search Committee for the Position of Superintendent.

 

Mr. Grantham informed the group that based on the Chairpersons of the existing Board Committees, Mrs. Campbell, Rev. Brown, Mr. Crofford, and Mrs. Rabb, with Mr. Coleman as alternate, be appointed to serve on the Committee for the Selection of Superintendent.

 

It was moved by Mr. Crofford, seconded by Mr. Raven and carried 5-3 with Mrs. Campbell, Mr. Coleman and Rev. Brown voting no, to advertise for the position of Superintendent of Concordia Parish School System on a statewide basis.

 

It was moved by Mr. Joseph, seconded by Mrs. Rabb and carried 5-3 with Mrs. Campbell, Mr. Coleman and Rev. Brown voting no, that effective July 1, 1999, Dr. Lester Peterman assume the responsibilities of superintendent, at his current rate of pay, until such time as a superintendent can be appointed.

 

It was moved by Rev. Brown, seconded by Mr. Raven and carried to adjourn at 6:45 p.m.
