SPECIAL USE OF SCHOOL BUSES
It shall be the policy of the Concordia Parish School Board to permit the use of school buses for student trips or excursions to enhance instructional activities. The use of buses for such trips shall be strictly governed by regulations adopted by the School Board and/or established by the Superintendent or administrative staff.
GUIDELINES
Buses owned by the Concordia Parish School Board will be utilized for all activity and field trips.
Regular bus operators will be given priority as operators of the Concordia Parish School Board buses for activity and field trips.
Bus Operators utilizing buses owned by the Concordia Parish School Board will be paid $8.33 per hour.
If a bus owned by the Concordia Parish School Board is not available then a bus owned by a operator may be utilized at the rate listed below. However, a trip may not be arranged with a bus operator unless all Concordia Parish School Board owned buses have been assigned for the day of the event.
Buses will be assigned using the activity request form. After a bus has been assigned by the transportation department, the form will be forwarded to the Director of Academics, and then to the Superintendent for approval. Approval will not be made until a bus has been assigned for the trip.
Principals will be encouraged to secure a charter bus for long distance trips. The transportation supervisor will provide a list of approved companies with properly insured buses.
Rates for paying, operators to drive their privately owned buses will be as follows:

$1.50 per one way mile
Example: For a one way trip of 10 miles, a bus operator would be paid for a total of 20 miles at $1.50 per mile.

The bus operator will be paid $8.33 per hour for wait time. The bus operator and the activity/field trip sponsor will document the exact time.

An additional 1 hour will be paid at the rate of $8.33 for 30 minutes of pre- and 30 minutes of post-trip bus check and clean-up. |
