HONORARY DIPLOMAS

 

 

In the interest of recognizing an individual who has attended a public school in Concordia Parish, the School Board may, by majority vote of the School Board at a regularly scheduled meeting, honor such individual by the designation of an honorary diploma.

 

DEFINITION

 

An honorary diploma shall be recognition bestowed upon an individual consistent with the criteria in this policy.  An honorary diploma shall not be a substitute for a regular diploma, nor shall it carry with it the meaning of a standard Louisiana high school diploma. It shall be clearly marked as an honorary diploma.

 

CRITERIA FOR AWARDING AN HONORARY DIPLOMA

 

The School Board may at its discretion award an honorary diploma to an individual who meets all of the following criteria:

 

  1. Attendance at an elementary or public secondary school in the Concordia Parish School System, but did not graduate from an accredited high school; and

  2. Demonstrated exemplary service to the community, state, or nation; and

  3. Made a significant contribution to a specific field, the community, or society in general through his or her life’s work and/or professional career; and

  4. The honorary diploma should have a special meaning to the individual being recognized.

 

The Concordia Parish School Board honorary diploma shall only be granted at least twenty-five (25) years after the individual’s originally projected graduation date.
