ELECTRONIC DEVICES
No student shall have in his/her possession, use or operate any electronic device, including any facsimile system, radio paging service, mobile telephone service (cell phones and camera phones), intercom, or electro-mechanical paging system, ipods, ipads, MP3, CD players, or any similar devices, in any elementary or secondary school building, or on the grounds thereof, or in any school bus used to transport public school students, unless authorized by the principal of school designee.
No student shall possess, on his/her person, an electronic device throughout the instructional day. If a student brings an electronic device in any public elementary or secondary school building or on the grounds thereof during an instructional day, the electronic device shall either be turned off and properly stowed away for the duration of the instructional day or prohibited from being turned on and used during the instructional day.
Electronic devices shall include, but not be limited to, facsimile system, paging services intercom, cellular telephones, personal computers, laptops, electronic instruments, iPads, iPods, tablet devices, e-readers, MP3, CD players, or similar devices.
These provisions shall not be applicable to a student whose Individualized Education Program, Individualized Accommodation Plan, Section 504 plan, or Individualized Health Plan requires the student's use of an electronic telecommunication device.
Students shall be required to leave all electronic devices in their vehicles or to voluntarily submit them to the principal or his/her designee upon arriving at school. Students who submit their devices to the principal shall have them returned at the end of the school day.
For purposes of this policy, the terms use and operation shall mean whenever the electronic device is turned on.
Violations of this policy will result in disciplinary measures as listed in the Student Code of Conduct.
